A bit of misinformation there but yes its a bit of a combination of COVID and supply chain / vendor (of bent pipe). Lots of nuances to the story but the short of it is... The new and old supplier are technically the same entity but operations have physically moved and management of the source has changed as a result of consolidation. Under new direction the quality has improved but throughput in the "short term" as a result of the transition has suffered. The M340i and M2C exhausts have suffered the most as their releases, and therefore peak demand of the systems, happened during the confluence of both COVID's shutdown peak as well as this supplier transition which exacerbated the problem. That said, we are supposed to be seeing the bent pipe we need to knock out the M340i exhaust backorder this week hence the new early/mid September ETA. I take that with a grain of salt and I will be much more confident when I physically see that shipment in the wharehouse but I remain optimistic nonetheless. Once that shipment is in house and we can control the last bit of production directly I will let everyone here know.

Always take the website ETA's with a grain of salt. Its an automated function that is entirely based on simply looking at what is "in stock" in the system at the topmost level and applying normalized vendor and/or production times to what is missing to generate an ETA. Its a tool but not entirely representative since it does not look down further than the initial level of parts. That's all to say the pipes came in late Tuesday (albeit with some drama as is par for the course) and we are building them now so the majority of those on backorder at least will be fulfilled in the near future.

Thanks very much for the update......although I am anxious I am committed to the Dinan exhaust......have had it on my e39 M5 since 2002 and still get compliments on how good it sounds.

09/16 Update: Delivered to dealership today......install on Friday.....yea!!

Estimated ship date on website is back to 10/13 now.

Is that only for new orders? Know it was mentioned the pipe that was needed to reduce some of the BO's has arrived and exhausts will be shipped out soon, correct? Just seeing if we're expecting another delay, specifically for those who've had their order in for a couple of months?

You need to stop looking at that date on the website. It's going to drive you mad man. =)

Like I said earlier its an automated thing that just populates based on a top level look of parts in the database. It's far from perfect but it assumes a shipment date of a new order placed at that time.

Nearly all the backorders for the M340i exhaust should be cleared up this week. A handful were shipped out on Thursday/Friday last week and they continue to build up and ship out what we can with the parts we have available.

I am curious as to if anyone has received their Dinan exhaust system for their M340i. I am patiently (maybe, haha) waiting for mine as it has been on backorder through my BMW dealer since the middle of July. I would also appreciate any status updates from Dinan on the progress of clearing the backlog.

I certainly understand all of the crazy factors that are in play here so I am in no way complaining, I'm just curious. The Dinan certainly has the best set of features for what I am wanting which is why I am and will continue to wait for delivery of it. In reality I am counting my blessings since I actually have my new 2020 M340i after my pristine 2017 340i (which had the MPPSK on it, it always jazzed me up every morning when I started it up!) was totalled out after another driver turned left in front of me at an intersection on May 8.

Any news would be appreciated. Blessings to everyone as we all work through the challenges of today.

If you ordered through BMW of Little Rock like I think you did then yours shipped yesterday, and according to tracking, will be delivered to them tommorrow.

Got mine installed today. It is worth the wait. Pictures don't do justice to the 4 "cannons" coming out of the rear bumper. The sound is deep and very dynamic not only in sport mode(s), but comfort as well. If you are cruising in comfort it is relatively quiet, but as the power and revs build in comfort it really comes alive. Sport modes are just a hoot! No droning inside in any mode.

Just got mine installed today! All I can say is holy shit this thing is awesome! It looks awesome and I'm blown away by how good it sounds. The sound clips on the internet do it zero justice.

Was doubting my decision to wait 3 + months for this exhaust and almost cancelled and went w MPE. Haven't heard MPE in person but if you're on the fence with this exhaust, do it! You will not regret it.

Even though they probably won't do it any justice (as you alluded to), did you manage to grab any sound clips?

Not yet but I will try to grab some today! It's much louder than I was anticipating. I had MPE on my 335i and that's was decently loud but nothing like this.

I agree with the look and sound of the Dinan exhaust assessment. That was my reaction too when I pulled up to pick up my car. The first impression is the look, and it is "mental" for sure. The sound is a joy too. There's nothing better than getting in the car and hearing that sound every time you start the car, especially first thing in the morning. Way healthier than caffiene.

There has been chatter in other threads about a cold start rattle from the exhaust system valving. I am happy to report that there is no rattle at all from my system. Just wanted to share that bit of information.
