First, I'd like to say that there are some pretty nice changes coming to the MY2021 M340i. The only two things I dislike about mine is that there are no ventilated seats and also that the sunroof opens a small amount. Doesn't look like ventilated seats are in the horizon for 2021.
Secondly, I've never seen more talk stir up over a car before on the forums... Think of it this way... the M340i is such a damn good car that the "real M" owners are flipping out over any little compliment or achievement that it gets! Just relax everyone. Sheesh. If I wanted to get an M3 for $70k, I would've gotten it instead of an M340i. Its all about personal need and preference. No need to shame anyone! And as mentioned before, and I agree, the "real M" cutoff was at the E92. Let's just agree that BMW nowadays makes great cars, yes, but most importantly, they make business decisions FIRST!

Guys & Gals, stop freaking out. BMW is trying to compete with Mercedes (c43) and Audi (S4). It's just paint. It has red brakes, so what? Does this in any way, shape, or form make your M car any worse? Of course not. Stop it. There's nothing wrong with the brand making their cars a little more sporty to get more market share. It's not going to affect your car's value or anything. Sheesh.

For those of us who can and do sell their cars every couple of years and look at this particular model as a fun weekend toy, nope. It just a car. Drive it. Enjoy it. Don't worry about what other people think... They don't matter

I hear a lot of talk about the ventilated seats not being on the M340i. I ordered one of the first X3 M40i - the seats are very similar to M340i. It came with ventilated seats but had one major problem. If you got the ventilated seats, the seats no longer had side bolstering!
I hated the lack of bolstering and had no idea of the issue when I ordered it. The car was so new that the dealer didn't know it either. I am not sure if they have fixed that issue yet. If not, I will take the side bolstered seats in my M340 vs the ventilated, non bolstered seats in my M40i any day of the week. |

I've read that the red M Performance brakes are the same size as the larger blue brakes, but also perforated/whatever you call that in english. |

I doubt there will be any change in cost vs the track package brakes.

Red is available as an M Performance part of about $2000. I would assume it’s the same component that they’ll now allow you to build into a new car.

Exactly. The red calipers in that upgrade package are the same as the track/performance calipers just red.
