G20 Basic Stereo Speaker upgrade possible?

I have a late 2019 G20 with what I believe is the "Stereo" audio system (Not HiFi, Definitely not HK) - I don't have tweeters (just flat plastic, no grill) in the pillar and I believe the speakers are powered by the head unit (I think is iDrive 6)

Would it make any difference to the audio quality if I were to do 1 or 2:
  1. Replace the front door speakers (with Eton B100XW) and the centre front speaker (with Eton B100 XCN)
  2. Replace trim with HK grill to include tweeter grills and get the Eton B100W for the sides and Eton B100XCN for the centre?

Or is there any point in doing either of the above without adding an amp?
Is it even possible (easily) to add an amp to my car?

Thanks!

Yes it will make a difference to the sound. I went a bit further and I purchased the door pillar trim to house the tweeters and purchased a set of tweeters and door speakers from Vibe UK and then had a UP8DSP Amp fitted and installed my 12" Sub in the boot sounds amazing.

The systems - including your OS6 one - are explained here: https://www.bimmer-tech.net/blog/ite...system-upgrade

Upgrade possibilities are shown here: https://www.audiokit.fi/kirjoitus/bm...-audio-upgrade

I also have the base system without tweeters but OS7. I'm trying to find the best option without an additional amplifier.

But even vendors of replacement speakers in the doors recommend adding an amplifier. They say it's possible to destroy the internal amp with high wattage speakers.

Installing the amp is the single most affective way of improving the sound. Assuming you have the base system with a RAM module in the boot there are a couple plug and play options available.

I installed a Musway 6ch DSP (plus speakers and subs) in mine with the base system. It’s night and day and we’ll worth it.

Hi Spendy42:
I have a G20 with id8 and base audio. Like you, I have updated the door mid and added the front door pillar trim with a tweeter in it. I also have the match up 8DSP which I will fit soon.
I know I am being cheeky but would you be willing to share your tune with me please?
