Car very different after service

2021 M340i. Purchased used in January of this year. I took it in for a service yesterday. Basic stuff, break fluid and oil change etc. I got my car back today and a lot of stuff was different. My dash now says “M340i” instead of just “M”, the dash only goes up to 160 MPH instead of 200, it no longer defaults in sport individual when you turn it on (comfort mode instead), and the remote start no longer functions. Anyone have any idea why this is the case and how to get this stuff back? I really liked that the car defaulted in sport mode when I turned it on, especially because it sounded really cool when I would use the remote start feature because the valves would be open. I’m going to confront the dealer about it, but figured it might be helpful to get some other options on the matter. It feels like I just paid them a boatload of money for them to remove a bunch of features from the car.

Your car must have been programmed when you purchased secondhand. The programmed dash you had before was not stock.

Thanks. Would this affect the remote start feature as well? I bought it from a BMW dealer and they said the remote start came stock with my vehicle.

I believe so. You’d have to probably code it back in. I’m not too well versed on coding as I’ve left everything stock (coding wise).

Sounds like they did an Idrive update which reset system and/or potential tune. As far as remote start, often after an update you have to go into settings to turn it back on. For Idrive 7 see below steps.

iDrive 7:
* Via iDrive: "CAR"
* "Settings"
* "Climate control"
* "Preconditioning/ventilation"
* If necessary, "Remote Engine Start"
* "Starting engine for climate control"
* Confirm the disclaimer.
