330i Msport @ Buttonwillow 13CW

My 330i Msport RWD w/ m sport brakes, adaptive suspension, is being built as I post this. I live in Los Angeles and I’m excited to do a light break in before taking it out to a track day at Buttonwillow Raceway, preferably 13CW, my favorite config.

Not sure what to expect on laptimes, but I presume sub 2 min given the brakes, suspension, power, and tire setup the car comes with.

I am an experienced motorcycle racer and have had good success at that track.

Anyone in SoCal interested in attending?

What group are you going with? Date(s)?

To be honest, a sub two would be impressive on a stock vehicle. I’d recommend at the very least swapping in more suitable brake fluid and pads. The stock pads and fluid become squishy fairly quick.

Unknown, still waiting to get my car. I’ll post more details once I’m closer. Within next few mo is my plan.

From my data, turn 1 for example has about 70mph midcorner speed on my 40hp bike, which I set a 2:01 on. Can the car not do midcorner 70mph turn 1 with the Pzeros?

That + car should be faster in acceleration than a 40hp bike, especially at higher speeds where it has massive aero advantage, like out of Riverside, front straight, etc. my bike could only top out at like 105 exiting riverside. I’d assume car would be similar if not better. Then again no idea.

Re: brakes, good point. I feel there should be ample time to cool since everything from cotton corners to Phil hill is nearly full throttle, only a dab of the brakes at bus stop.

The stock PZero run flats have very little grip during high speed cornering. I couldn’t maintain any grip at all during streets of willow on the same tires, and that is with much less speed since SOW is a much slower pace track compared to BW. I think you’ll find the PZero’s extremely underwhelming.
I’m all for testing the stock capability and then modifying as you see fit based on your feedback.
Keep me updated on dates. Haven’t been to buttonwillow this season, so it would be nice to go at least once this year.

Will do! P.S. I specced it without RFTs lmao in anticipation of a track day. I’ve heard not so great things about the OEM run flat options. Interested in what nonrft summer tires will actually be on it when I receive it.

Brake pads are super easy and cheap to change so good chance I’ll change those after if I see fit

Update: I called Speedventures as they have a few dates in next few months at BW. Looks like “Green Group” will be the appropriate open passing group.

Question, when you got the pzero runflats, are they staggered 225/255 or square?

Depending on your package. Most dealers in California ordered the standard square 225/40/19. Very few owners and dealers ordered the staggered setup, which was part of the package that also increased speed limiter.
My vehicle was custom ordered by first owner, unfortunately with square setup. I sized up to 235/40/19 on PS4S and did improve handling slightly.

The ZTK package comes with summer staggered performance and *adds the M Technology package with M Performance brakes and M differential.

* I would confirm this. I read an older post where users had to add the M Technology package.

I didn’t have an option for M Techbology package for 2024 USA models. BMW seems to add and remove options year by year.

I have the ZMP sport package and ZDH dynamic handling package (brakes + adaptive suspension)

No idea if it comes with the diff. Not counting on it, but I hope it does. Not listed in build sheet.

This post says it was eliminated. https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2059438

My 330i from factory came with Bridgestone runflats which I changed pretty quickly to PS4S’. Honestly made a pretty big difference from what I felt on some canyon roads.

Well, I got my car! Luckily it came with PS4S, super happy.

Now to find a BW 13CW and/or Laguna Trackday

Spec looks great! That’s awesome that you got PS4S’s. Wondering what your experience will be on track. Noticed on the twisties with the window down there’s a clicking sound coming from the front left wheel mid turn. Wondering if my wheel bearings are on the way out or that’s normal.

Thank you! Probably good to get that checked out before a catastrophic failure
