Steering Assistant Faults
Hey everyone, My BMW warranty just expired and I am having steering assistant issues when using the cruise control. At first I thought it was the camera when I was looking online but it was very intermittent. after a lot of trial and error, I noticed that it happens if I take my hands off the wheel, regular lane departure works all the time, so it's not the camera. Sometimes it will work after gripping the sterring wheel and trying to move the leather, hitting it a few times, etc... So I've come to the conclusion it is the capacitive touch in the rim.
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and it being the steering wheel ( capacitive touch in the rim and not the camera? what was the resolution? a whole new one? BMW refuses to quote anything until I pay the $300 Dx fee. |

Like I stated. I get a steering assistant fault in CID. It goes away almost immediately but as soon as I take my hand off the wheel it comes back. Instead of the progressive hands on wheel warning I get the fault. Sometimes it works with the remedies above, lately it isn’t.
