Why do some 2023 M4s come with 50th Anniversary emblems and some came without?

Does anyone know why some 2023 M4s came with 50th Anniversary emblems and some came without? Is it a dealer/customer choice when ordering? I just picked up my new 2023 M4 Competition from the dealer and it came with normal black/white emblems. I thought It may have been for 2022 only, but I've seen numerous 2023 M cars with the 50th anniversary badging. I'm just trying to figure out the rhyme/reason for some getting it and some not. Thoughts?

I’m pretty sure it was a NCO to have regular badges so I imagine a fair few people skipped the 50th ones

When ordering there is a no cost option to revert back to the standard badges. It seems like your dealer opted for the standard badges over the 50th.
The 50th badges can be had fairly easy for a fee

50th anniversary emblem was an option and not a standard feature. Did you or your dealer spec in your vehicle? It was supposed to be an option for vehicles built btween March 2022 and March 2023 but it ended early.

The default was the 50th anniversary emblems on M vehicles. The option was the standard emblems.

It also goes by a certain build date I believe.

I was told when I ordered my G80x last month that the 50th was not an option anymore.

I think in Sept/Oct is when the 50th badges fell off the online configurator (I specced a car in Aug, and it was an option, I added some options to my spec about Oct, and it was no longer an option)

Same here, I picked up my 23 M3 last week and it should have had the 50th anniv emblems...when I ordered the car the standard emblems were an option and like $250. I wanted the 50th...my dealer put in a request to see if they can be switched.

It's definitely later than that. I have a week 6 build and my car has 50th emblems.

I thought they were available for M cars with build dates 3/2022 - 3/2023 for no charge, but could be optioned without them.

Missed the cut off date…initially I opted in for the 50th badge back in Aug 2022 but when it was time to submit the order in Feb 2023 it was no longer an option so I didn’t get the 50th Anna badges

optioned my car in jan, built in Feb 2023 (wk7), no option for 50th badges when I specced it. I specced with another dealer in Oct 22, no 50th badge option either. So must have been sporadic

I've lost count how many times I've been stopped at a red light and the guy behind me takes his phone out and takes a picture of the back of my car. I assume it's the badge.

Opposite in the UK. £300 extra. I passed but later changed my mind and bought via mates rates for wheels boot and bonnet.

Standard on US M cars built from 1 March 2022 until 1 March 2023. As people have already noted, it ceased a little early. Who knows, why?

If the car was produced in that timeframe, either the customer, or the dealer ordered the car with the standard emblems. Most other countries it was a pay option.

This is the original emblem from 1972, so, its not like its not an OEM part. I have them on my car, and it was built in August of 2021. I opted to purchase them, separately, as they portray 50 years of BMW M, and my car is a 2022. Its not just some new, thought up idea. Its simply a heritage retro for the newer vehicles.
