I understand that now Apple and Amazon have started lossless streaming in CD quality, Spotify are to follow with Spotify HiFi. Its not released yet but its coming.

Would this mean that the Spotify we use in the car (that's using the API downloading to the Head unit - NOT Bluetooth from your phone) will benefit from this or will BMW do the normal "Its not supported"?

I don't see why not. The car has its own LTE connection, which is more than capable of handling lossless audio streaming.

If BMW decides not to support it for some reason, you could stream via Android Auto or CarPlay--just at the cost of your data.
