Interesting - My order was paid and deposit paid on 4th Feb. It's in build and due in the UK W/C 17th.

Ah geez this really sucks - and something we all get nervous of with a new build. I've had a couple of issues over the years (interior trim being typical) but it seems the supply chain issues with the pandemic have made things far worse right now!

The reality is only you can decide if you'd be happy with the car. And it'll come down to Your must-haves versus nice-to-haves.

HK is a big one for me personally but I also know that if you can get the advanced/hi-Fi option there are a tonne of good post delivery upgrade approaches (bimmer-tech and the related audio text fisher line are two good ones) so that might be one you can swallow.

Obviously colour and leather are something you'll be stuck with and if Ivory is on your musts lists then don't compromise on that.

As someone said it's the toys that make the car "yours" the spec is pretty good from the start but if you've got your eye on something it could well bug you every day you drive the car (this is coming from someone who regretted not being able to find the cash for HUD)

Whatever you do good luck, and we're all rooting for you!

I ordered my 330i M Sport Pro in early Feb. I got the full Tech Plus pack and the car is built (Mexico) and on route for delivery at the dealers in second week in June.

As far as I know I have everything, HK audio, DAP, Enhanced Bluetooth and wireless charging that the OP is missing.

That might be rubbing salt into the wound lol, I can imagine the supply chain at the Mexico plant will be different to the Munich plant (the OP is in the UK)

I'm in the UK too, Nicola hasn't managed to get independence just yet.

I was told most G20's are being built in Mexico at the moment??

My Feb 2021 G21 was built in Munich but it looks like most G20 are built in Mexico. Seems odd that European cars are being built 6000 miles away.

I was surprised too when I heard but I suspect dealers will have build slots on pipeline production, some un Munich and some in San Luis Potosí. It's a fairly new, only came online 2019

It maybe just petrol units from Mexico

Ahh I didn't read your profile, apologies! - maybe that's the difference with the missing options for certain builds: German vs Mexican (or even South African IIRC) production, either way I don't envy the OPs conundrum!

Absoultly, I know I'd be livid waiting this long to be told I couldn't get some options. Seems like a bit of a lottery

My old 2011 X5 was built in the US. I don’t think they make any in Europe.

I have decided to proceed with the order. If the standard sound system really is that bad, I can always go down the aftermarket route.

If any other changes / delays happen to my order it will be cancelled.

I thought ordering a new car was meant to be an enjoyable process?

Am I reading this correctly? Surely they cannot legally insist you take delivery of a car that doesn’t have all the options you ordered? My bad back makes lumbar support absolutely essential so I would not be able to drive a car without it. This would make me nervous of ever ordering another new car that hasn’t already been built and is in the dealer chain stock.

I have chosen to proceed with the order. The options that they can't provide have been discounted from the price. It's in the small print that they are allowed to do this.

The most frustrating thing is, they are still offering HK audio on the m340d, but If I changed my order to one of these it wouldn't be delivered until October. My reason for choosing the 330d over the m340d is because I don't want the xdrive system.

It's the passenger's side seat lumbar and bolster adjustments that're being deleted on most factory orders. If you're the primary driver, you'll be fine. However like in my case, the better half will not have her side lumbar taken out, then that's a problem. We ended up cancelling the factory order which was an M440i Cabriolet. Dealers would have refunded my deposit if I've not settled for a stock unit they happened to have in their showroom, albeit a M440i xDrive coupe instead. But complete with every option and features that we want. Colour was our 2nd choice. TB on Oyster as opposed to DG on Cognac. Oh well, we took this on a 3 years lease with the hope of getting another convertible after this. Maybe there'll be more and better EVs on the market by then too!

What's your reasoning against xdrive? I'm the first to be a RWD die hard but the suspension issues of old are solved and most people say the bmw 4wd implementation feels very rear-drive like in use.!

I've just always preferred RWD. Also, gives me an excuse to stay home from work if it snows. :-)

Haha fair enough, no "need" for xdrive but if it was the only option I'd still go for it. (I used to swear I'd never get an auto box but that ship sailed long ago!)

Auto box is a must on a daily driver. I will get another fun (manual) weekend car in a couple of years.

It might be in the small print, but they cannot legally insist you take a car that isn't delivered as specified. If you're still happy to take the car, I'd be pushing them for further discount on top of the cost of just removing the options, otherwise tell them you'll not be taking it & you want your deposit back.

Why not if you've signed a contract which specifically includes that small print? By signing the contract you've agreed to its terms - that's the whole point of a contract, surely?
Further, this would almost certainly be covered by E&OE and acceptable variance allowances in any case, even if they hadn't specifically drawn your attention to it.

Companies such as BMW pride themselves on service.
If they are not supplying you with the car you have ordered
they are going to have a lot of unhappy customers.
How many owners on this forum have had email surveys sent to them
after buying a car or after having the car serviced ?
These surveys are all about customers satisfaction.
I’m sure that if you complain to your dealer and BMW that you are
not happy about the car not having the extras you have ordered,
then they should allow you to cancel the order under these circumstances as a good will gesture.
A letter to the motoring press stating the facts, that if you order
a BMW you may not get the exact car you have ordered, could work wonders.
