Dipping near side mirror when reversing

Is there a way to adjust the amount that the near side mirror dips when selecting reverse?

I like the feature, as gives a better view of wheel and kerb, but it dips down so low that it makes it pretty useless at seeing anything else in there unless you lie down on your passengers lap.

Thanks in advance

I think you can do this with coding but not otherwise.
Or just set the mirror slightly higher in the normal position - it dips a fixed amount so if it starts higher it will dip higher.

You can adjust it. Select reverse, allow the mirror to dip, adjust the position to how you want it and exit reverse. When you select reverse next time it will go to the position you just set.

I did try that, but the selection switch on the drivers door needs to be over to the drivers side mirror for the dipping to take place. And then adjusting when in reverse just adjusts the drivers side.

If you switch the switch over to the passenger side (whilst in reverse) it just moves up back to the normal position.

That worked on my old E46 M3 but doesn't work on my current G20, was told it had to be programmed in, there was a thread on here last year some time.

Wow, you really do learn something new everyday.. I’ve had it disabled since purchase as it dipped too much. Thanks for this!!!

Actually, I may have jumped the gun. Certainly worked like that on my F31 and A6 but maybe the G2x is different as you have the switch already in the driver's position to make it work in the first place.

Does my head in that all this functionality is possible, but hidden from the default interface. Why can they not just add this as a setting in the iDrive?!

With the recent discussions about void'ing warranty and blacklisting of coded cars, looks like its something I am going to need to put up with.

Totally agree with all you've just said! Not letting us do these changes will be a "Teutonic thing"....heaven's forbid don't let us have too much control!

This then got me thinking about the other thread running on this forum about the Lane Change/Steering Intervention function and I'm really hoping that the guys come back with some positive news after exploring the "take it to the dealership and they can disable that for you"option.

I'm not thrilled at all with that function being active on my upcoming purchase!

I think I’ll just have to wait and see. I like the general ideas behind all of this technology although on UK roads I might find a lot of it impractical. Whereas on the continent (which might be possible for me) and the US there may be much more opportunities to use the tech as it was developed. Having said all of that I still ordered the tech plus pack and I’ll have to deal with it one way or another. Coding is certainly out for me and insurance validity must take primacy.

Same boat as you with this one!
The mirror dip doesn't bother me too much but I respect others' opinions regarding it.
The steering intervention does very much though for all of the valid arguments people have expressed on the thread. Until we reach the point of fully autonomous vehicles (well after my lifetime I'd hope!) then are we not supposed to be the ones responsible for the safety of the vehicle not just in relation to ourselves and our passengers but also all other road users? A subject I feel very strongly about!

Absolutely agree with all of that. I want the tech for safety on our roads and not to relinquish responsibility.

With you all the way on that!

I had best let the thread get back on topic though now as I don't want to hijack it!

If you wish discuss it further then feel free to PM me!

From what I can tell, FDL coding i.e. Bimmercode functions haven't been caught out yet. It's only when you VO/FA code that it seems people are getting flagged. YMMV ofc.
