G20 diy repairability going forward

I am currently a 2012 F11 owner which I have ran for about 8 years,
I am considering a change to a G20 model, having enjoyed for many years never having to rely on dealers for diagnostics and being able to code replacement used parts etc using all the tools and guides available from this forum I would like to know if going forward home repair will still be possible on the g20 series or has BMW locked software etc down so much that it is no longer possible

Thanks

G20 is still coding friendly. Parts are plentiful too, I don't anticipate any issues with that
