Completely agree. Can't wait to see these...

Still heavy no doubt, but with the new platform and design of the X3, could be the perfect sized beast I've been looking for, and all the while far less heavy than the x5/x6 M's...

Yet, still no M4 GC?

Or an honest M7?

Customer demand and research investigated the opportunity to provide BMW concepts for particular growth compact or C-segments. Aligning the cars with the next generation of MINI models allows MINI to be a fully profitable entity on each vehicle as well as customer personalisation.

Aligning with BMW allowed a vehicle like the X1 to properly compete in all areas including versatility and flexibility for the first time.
There will be further BMW and MINI vehicles based upon the UKL architecture.
The Active Tourer is the best selling 2er model fulfilling its role as either a first time BMW or indeed a secondary BMW alongside another BMW product.

The new Active Tourer eDrive is being considered for the US market as an additional or alternative to the i3.

In regards to the BMW 2er Sedan It is being considered for introduction to other markets. As of now it is directly intended for the Chinese market. It will be aimed at the youthful demographic. There are lots of customers in China who would like to own a status symbol such as a BMW but either cannot reach financially or have to settle for pre-owned. Incidentally the Chinese market is one of the largest pre-owned markets globally.
It is also a market where they have a following for "fake" or "freak" BMWs. In other words a domestic or import car with BMW badges and kidney grille over the actual manufacturer.

In the 2er Sedan it will be more accessible as well as be affordable but also offer variety from the basic 214i right through to the 225i xDrive with M Sport packet.
In these photographs lies a base model hence the halogens and single tailpipe. But you will able to specify large wheels, leather interior etc.
Its a very ambitious strategy especially for a vehicle which would be exclusive to other markets.

By that same logic, BMW obviously should stop building M5s. Haven't they got a car already (E63, RS6)?

The M brand has been "Diluted" or has grown for years with no effect to image or indeed sales.

We already know that and there was no such thing as a 28d anywere else in the world. But what about the next X3.... 30d in Europe is the B57 with 265ps and 620nm 20d is much more modest 190ps 400nm B47. So I guess that it will be going toward the second option. I just hope they give us at least the X5 25d figures 231ps/500nm with the B47.

Very excited about the X3 M. Not sure why it took this long but if it's as awesome as the X5 M, should a hot seller as far as M and SAV BMW's go.

Agreed. If you're gonna have an X5 M, I've been waiting for the X3 M. Should be sweet.

Wonder if M4 CS is essentially a "normal" M4 Comp Pack, but with water injection

Why the hesitation on bringing this to the US market... i feel like a 2 sedan M performance would pull in alot of younger/entry buyers who can only afford a 320. But want the "top of the line" feel. Vs bargain step feel.

Like Merc... Every model has an AMG version!

I guess I don't care as long as the performance is there. I might have taken the X3/4 M car instead of the F80. I would have loved an X5M at the time but it's a little too rich for my blood.

Is this different than the 1-series sedan rumored for the US? Or was a sub 3-series sedan never slated for the US to begin with? If the latter, I would find that odd since Merc and Audi have seen a lot of success with the CLA and A3. I see them everywhere!

The X3M/X4M should be interesting, though I find the chassis naming odd since they will be based on the G-series chassis but designated an F-series chassis code.

This is really the problem with BMW these days; there just isn't enough choice.
Perhaps a new ad campaign: "M": the most meaningless letter in the world?

Hopefully you will also tell us that a manual-transmission version is coming.

These models should be a big hit, especially the X3M. Certainly the volume should justify a return to selling a manual version in the USA. How ironic that we make the X3 manual version in the USA for the rest of the world, but cannot buy it here.

It only comes with a 2.0L diesel, so it's a pretty different animal than say an M2 or M3.

I highly highly doubt the X3/4M will be offered with anything other than DCT or 8AT.
