Because an extended warranty can save your ass. I had the DCT transmission replaced on my M3 using the extended warranty. Had the Navigation unit replaced on my GT-R under extended warranty. My friend had his steering wheel ($5000) and LSD replaced on his C63S AMG under extended warranty, and the front subframe was replaced on my wife’s car under extended warranty. If you plan on keeping your car past the factory warranty, I would get an extended warranty, especially on a German car where things tend to break and are expensive to repair. All of my BMW’s have had issues. I like them, but they aren’t the most reliable cars.

What did they charge you for that? Was there a reason you did it at the time of purchase rather then later when your factory warranty is about to end?
