‘Intelligent’ Personal Assistant

What’s everyone’s experience with this?

It seems fine for aircon/temperature instructions.
The “hey BMW I’m tired” feature is great - used it the other day and didn’t realise it was just hitting me with cold/fresh air and not my passenger, who was understandably underwhelmed!

Seems fine for navigation instructions as well oh and I got it to remove ‘split screen’ since I’d no idea how I activated it in the first place.

It really seems to struggle with music instructions though. First day or so it seemed fine. Now it’s really frustrating the hell out of me, am signed into Connected music and using my own profile (not guest), but it never gets any music requests at all, for stuff I know are there/downloaded/available.

Anyone else have this with the music requests via voice assistant?

And has anyone found anything else cool to ask it to do!?

Cheers.

Its been mixed for me, on music its fairly good ln my usb music at finding what I want. Locations is pretty decent too as is the weather but she does come back at times not understanding what I said and asking me where I want to go even if it wasn't a satnav request.

Not as advanced as Alexa at this stage.

I find the whole iDrive (and “Hello BMW”) a bit on the flaky side, yes it looks nice but I’ve stopped using it when I have others in the car as I never know the outcome and I’d rather avoid the embarrassment.

I rarely use it, it's definitely not Google assistant or Alexa. I find it quite slow to respond.

They forgot the intelligent part. Never use it since 9 out of 10 it fails to understand and just starts navigating to whatever city on the world which sounds like my command when spoken under water.

Frustrating and overrated. 4 out of 10 rating in my opinion.

I’ve just got in my car and said “Hello BMW, Rate the Intelligent Personal Assistant on the iDrive” and she directed me to a Ford garage......

I rest my case.

After a few days experience I won’t be using “Hey BMW”
The speech button on the steering wheel is enough to use. Short press for BMW stuff and a longer press for Siri to do the CarPlay stuff.
Using both assistants side by side seems to work fine.
Bit annoyed that Sat Nav destinations have to be reloaded if you stop for a break mid route. My last 520d asked if I wanted to resume planned route.

You can say “Hey BMW” “Lets go home” I’ve had the reply “ That would be nice. We’re going home” and as long as you’ve set the home address it’ll program the route home

I discovered the ejector seat LOL by accident at the weekend. I've always teased the kids with this on older cars, but always had a 'I do not understand' response.

I almost sh@t myself when I was told it had been activated and the countdown started.

Mostly because I don't have a sunroof!

Garage List
There is a menu missing in my assistant as I believe it can learn habits so it will automate your regular functions that you use depending on time etc

This annoyed me at first but it pops up as a notification (but doesn't stay long) when you restart the car and you can quick access the notifications by flicking iDrive controller up or I think you can set a hot key to notifications.
