Just apply it to the glass directly instead. Problem solved.

Update from my previous post

I used the yellow Rain-X washer fluid the first time and it messed up my washer fluid level sensor. The warning for low washer fluid would not go away.

I drove around and literally kept spraying my windshield until the tank was empty. I then filled it with the BMW washer fluid (purple one) and the next day, the low washer fluid went away. I was very lucky that I did not have to pay to change the sensor. The sensor sits inside the reservoir and the Rain-X fluid coats the sensor, causing it to think the reservoir is empty, even though it is not.

I am sticking with the BMW washer fluid only from now.

IDK guys, but I go through 40 gallons of Wal Mart Supertech purple and blue stuff each winter and never had issues on E70 and E90.
Ran Rain-X on E90 on a road trip, never had issues.

Update: I’ve been mixing the green RAIN-X with the Blue BMW fluid 50/50 for 4 years now and no problems.

I have a bottle of prestone 2 in 1. Is this going to have the same issue as RainX?

Ok so I'll be honest I hate anything other than plain water in the washer fluid tank. I hate that when I go to use it, the water with these additives leaves marks on the paintwork when it dries - until you next wash the car. Water, is just water, and for me it's adequate to clean the windshield until I get home or stop and clean it properly.
Saying this, where I live is a warm climate and I only get rain, no snow/ice etc.

I have my first BMW and luckily read this through before I needed any washer fluid. The other solution to having a clear windshield doesn’t seem to work with BMW’s either. I looked everywhere to see if PIAA makes a silicone wiper for my G20. Tirerack, Amazon, PIAA’s website, etc do not list a fitment for my car. Are BMW wipers also different from others? Anyone try to change them to non OEM?

Same - I have been up to the local dealer for various reasons and they always top me off. I've not had to fill it, but sounds like I'll need to pick some concentrate up and make some at home to save some $. Regarding the wipers, some say the Bosch ICONs will fit, but I could not get them to fit nor do they snap in like the OE blades. I picked some up from bmwpartspros (could also try getbmwparts) and Amazon. They're about $40 which is about what you'd spend on some aftermarket blades.

Looks like I have the same issue. I have more than one vehicle but I am pretty sure I added some orange rainX to this vehicle a while back and now I got the low fluid sensor warning. When I went to add fluid I barely got anything in the cap before it was full again. I'm optimistic that I can flush it (overspray) in the warm weather and get some blue stuff in there and see it see it get back to normal. 🤦*♂️. Thankfully a quick Google search led me here and I was already a member of bimmer Post which yet again has paid dividends!

I think I'll try the green next after a full cycle of blue and some more reading.

Been using the Prestone fluids since I bought the car. It does say reason repellent, but o have not had issues with my sensor. Used the green and yellow versions of it.
