❄️ snow + G20
Anybody dare to take their G20 out in the snow today?
I went to clear the car and then back tracked! Mixture of not wanting to crash my brand new motor and remembering my old E90 which just used to sit in the road and go nowhere in snow! Mine rested up today! Anybody have any pics of your snow fun? |

Anyone with the X drive give it a go in the snow?
I have the X drive, but never got round to trying it yesterday. Interested to hear how much difference it makes in the snow. |

Xdrive means you spin four wheels instead of 2 on Summer tyres!!
I wish my old F10 winter tyres and rims fit my G21. I couldn't get up my slightly sloping drive in my old rear drive 535d in snowy conditions without them. With them, no problem. Huge difference. |

Xdrive with winter tyres is awesome. Not quite quattro awesome but very good. Winter tyres for 2WD or 4WD make such a huge difference it probably should be a requirement as it is in much of Europe.

We had snow up here a few weeks ago and had to do the nursery run. It was quite good uphill here the extra weight of the batteries gave me some more traction but wasn't so confident downhill. Would like some winter tyres but fairly pointless now as we live close to the city and not travelling much for work. Sheffield is hilly though!

My F30 330e on 18's could roll around if necessary, but the G20 with 19's feels like walking on ice in high heels 🤔
Having had his and hers 3 series on the drive for the last 15 years, I found the only sensible solution (other than moving to Xdrive) is to fit winter tyres. The company won't cover the cost of winter tyres on mine, so a set of Ferric Grey MV3's with Winter Contact seem to do the trick on the E93. Apart from on ice, it feels very stable and being diesel happily pulls itself up most hills 👍🏻 School closures have meant both cars are sat doing nothing for weeks, currently freeze on a night, defrost during the day, and repeat. 😭 |

I fit winter tyres every year here in Scotland. They go on wk.1 Nov and come off wk.1 April.
I'm running a stage1 320i RWD and we've quite a bit of snow so far. The rears are 275/30R20 Pirelli Sotto Zero and the fronts are 235/35R20 Sotto Zero. It goes and stops amazingly well. Winter 2WD is far better than summer 4WD in the cold months. |

Had a slight filter on but they do sometimes appear more yellow in certain pictures depending on the ight conditions.

I fully agree with this, as the wife's E93 with 18"winter tyres can easily out perform my sisters F16 (X6) on 20" summer tyres in every aspect 👍🏻

Took mine out this morning, didn't notice a huge benefit with having x drive, but then I didn't particularly try to find out. Unfortunately it's the other idiots that can't drive in the snow that are likely to cause more problems than tyres or whether you have 4 wheel drive in this country!
