I finally decided it was time to get some sound out of the car, but I just find the kits on the market unreasonably priced.

I decided to have a local welder remove just the exhaust and first cats and also. (@954muflers in Hollywood, FL)

I wanted to keep the exhaust flap intact, the welder told me that he always removes it but, I insisted and he left it, charged me an extra $10 for the "extra"Bends *. I am very glad I kept the flap in place since I have activated the "Sport Plus function" with BimmerCode.

Bill came out to $275.00 for the job.
No Lights on dash whatsoever!

The car has been transformed!!!

It sounds like an Animal, literally.
P.S Excuse my Teenager... not sure what she was going on about 😬

It's your car and you should do what makes you happy. With that said, my opinion is that the single exhaust tip looks very out of place now.

Sounds great - did you switch to a single exhaust tip or are the pics of the job not yet completed?

Sounds nice. But I just assumed the pic was a pic while WIP.

Correct, had a chance to take some pictures while they were working on right side, both sides intact, it looks stock when walking up behind it.

What does that have to do with the content of this post? Assume you're asking if I have a Paint Protection Film??

I'm guessing he meant OPF and not PPF? Typo. Unless I'm mistaken, in which case, I'm confused too.

merlin99 American G20s don't have an OPF

I believe he means the "Petrol Particular Filter"
(PPF) We removed the Exhaust housing and the 2nd dary cats only, I don't recall removing anything else, there is no additional exhaust odor vacating the tailpipes, this is not a full straight pipe project after all.

Yes sir. Ottopartikelfilter (OPF) a.k.a PPF/GPF. I didn't know if it was actually called a PPF or not until I googled it. Our NA (North American, not naturally aspirated. Damn acronyms) cars don't have it.

This is such a perplexed and pointless topic, If automotive regulators really wanted to curb particulate matter emissions, they should have made carbon ceramic brakes mandatory On any new sold vehicle, PM10, and mostly 1/2 of PM 2.5 emissions come from brake wear, tire wear, road abrasion, and disturbing dust on the road, tailpipe distribution is nowhere near.

Yeah sorry meant OPF/GPF/PPF

But if the states don't have those filters its going to sound better regradless, looking at doing a back box delete. Only thing in the UK you can get away with these days

A friend of mines has had ECut outs installed on an E92 M3 for years on an otherwise stock system, hands down one of the most vicious V8 sounds I've come to hear! And just like that, on a flick of a button it goes back to normal.

In all seriousness, with all the OPF/PPF in the UK/EU regulations in new cars nowadays, If this was remotely an option (considering the possibility of it being installed discreetly was an option) that might be an option worth exploring.
