Carplay Activation (fullscreen + for areas not supported)

Hello all,

I have a G20 M340i that's US spec, but I'm located in Korea. As such ConnectedDrive is disabled (along with CarPlay and maps and all that).

I contacted kubax86 and he was able to set me up with fullscreen CarPlay - which is a godsend! It only took about 15 minutes or so to get working and it was seamless. It does require a windows computer with OBD2 connection to the car.

This is a great option for those US spec cars in Germany, Korea, etc. or in countries without ConnectedDrive capability. Highly recommended! I think BMW Military / Diplomatic sales needs to include CarPlay with the car purchase, but this is the best option for sure!

editing to add: For cars with telematics deactivated, it seems that maps through carplay just...Don't work well on iDrive7. It literally makes navigation apps unuseable. It doesn't matter what nav app you use, same situation, and it's the same situation for everyone I know with iDrive7 that doesn't have telematics updated. It seems that it can't pin to your actual location and it doesn't constantly update and freezes, so the app will constantly recalculate the route, and the map will literally bounce your location around 100 meters or more from where you are. I have a video of the screen just bouncing back and forth it makes navigation literally impossible. It hasn't worked ever, so I wonder if it's trying to rely on the car's GPS which is deactivated.

Kuba86 had quick response and provided VERY complete and simple directions on how to upgrade my 2018 BMW M5 F90 from split screen CarPlay to full screen CarPlay. I followed the directions and result was perfect! Thanks again kubax86!

For now CarPlay cannot be activated for Middle East cars with iDrive 7

Just had Bimmer remote.com activate Car Play. Awesome service - took 15 mins to flash headunit. Need Windows laptop and ENET cable.

I have a BMW 330e G20 with the MGU Idrive 7 unit and I would like to activate Carplay or Android Auto. It is fitted with Live Cockpit Professional. The Map version shows Africa/Middle East Live 2020-1
131031939.3.00, H20w44.1-1
Can anyone please assist? The local dealer tells me it can't be done...
Is it possible at all?
