The thing that intrigues me more about the latest version is the "Xtraboost" which takes the bhp to nearly 300, does the older version have this too? or is it just the new car? also, is the virtual cockpit an extra? looks spookily like the Audi one!
I would definitely look for a Shadow Edition of the F30 330e if you choose to go with the 3 series.

It started to appear in September 2017 and comes with a black grille, black wing mirrors, slightly tinted front and rear lights, and different style 19"s to the M Sport Plus model 👍🏻

I had a 2016 330e and now have a 2018 530e so I have experience with each. The 3 is definitely smaller and less luxurious but can handle better because it is smaller.

One reason I went to the 5 series (aside from the battery problems I had with my 330e that caused me to sell it back to BMW) was the ability to get nappa leather instead of the Dakota or Sensatec. I had Dakota in the 3 series and didn't like it.

In my 3 series I had the car coded for easy entry; in the 5 series I find that even with my arthritic hip I can get in and out relatively easily with the steering wheel raising when i turn off the car.

I think it comes down to three issues: performance vs. luxury (3 series wins performance; 5 series wins luxury); cost (5 series is more expensive); and size (5 series is, of course, larger).

If you only need two doors, take a look at the real 2 series cars; they are a sweeter variant of the 3 series.

For those of you with the 330e, what is the average range you are getting on long drives from full to empty? I know the US EPA says about 320 miles range total. But that's bleeding the tank completely dry and using all electricity.
So realistically, how far can I drive on a road trip before having to refuel? I take long trips from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and also to ski areas, and don't want to be paying tons of money for gas at a station in the middle of nowhere when a pure ICE car with a larger tank would get me to my destination with no issues.
I really wish the 330e had a 12 or 13 gallon tank. Would make things a lot easier for long drives / long commutes.

So at around 140km/h on highway you get 6-6.5 liters per 100 km right?

Here are the results:

Total driven : 125km
Total electric : 51km
Fuel consumption : 4,6 liters/100km
Av speed : 60kmh

A total of 80km of the 125km was done on the motorway at 140-155kmh. Under those conditions, the fuel consumption is 6-6,5 liters/100km, which for me was very surprising for a car of this weight with a turbo petrol engine. It is the same as a similar powered diesel. It is so fuel efficient that the 40 liter tank is not a problem anymore for me, I’ve now gone 400km and still have more than half a tank left. And most of that has been on the motorway, driven normally/fast all the time - I didn't try to save any fuel or battery.

I drive 500 mi round trip every weekend. I avg 36-37 mph with the cruise set at 84 mph. When I get to my destination (250 mi) I have 1/4 tank or more left.

Here's a trip I just took today. Comes out to 41.8 mpg. Cruise was set at 85 mph for the majority of the drive.
