I have 770 miles on the M440 and the dealer pushed update 11.2020.xx to the car. It now burgles and pops much more. Is that due to more miles or the update. I do not know. I am getting an MPE to solve the problem myself.

My 2021 m340i should arrive in March and I have been debating what to do about this exhaust (and hoping that BMW sends out an optional update for those that want the 2020 sound). Was looking at different options but leaning towards MPE at the moment. Any downside to the MPE (apart from the fact that it should have been included with the car to begin with)?

i got my MPE at the port. The work order was annoying because it took like two extra weeks in New Jersey. I love the exhaust it's loud. If you had any doubt on sound get the MPE. i have less than 100 miles on the car and it's super loud. if you Pm i'll send you a exhaust clip

Thanks! I sent you a PM. Before getting the MPE did you check out the Dinan option? It looks pretty good a well... Same price. Two valves instead of once to completely bypass the muffler.

I sent Dinan an email asking about the 21 G22 M440i availability as the only models showing are the 2020. The response was that they are the same as will fit. Not really sure they well. Hate to call them out and maybe I am wrong but they actually should be different. Maybe the M340i 20 to 21 are the same. Not sure.

HU_MGU-> expert mode -> search "sound" -> activate menu and configuration (first 2 that pop up).

Just researched this and it sounds like it just overrides control of the exhaust flap and possibly the ASD as well. Pretty sure this wouldn't help us at all since the flap is open in Sport mode anyway without the pops.

This is not correct. Keeping the valves open and ASD on does not bring back the burbles and pops.

Feel dumb to be asking, but how can you tell if you have the stock or MPE exhaust? I took delivery of my 2021 m340i about two months ago and the dealer said it came with MPE. It does sound good after 3k miles that I now have on it, but I feel like it doesn't sound the same as people posting with the MPE. Any help? I do like it now but not getting a lot of pops like I hoped as the 2020s did. If I do have stock then I'll definitely be looking into MPE or dinan.

This discussion has been going on for months. Those of us with 21s don't get the pops and burbles, but it still doesn't sound bad. If you want more aggressive you can go with Dinan or less so MPE, or you can straight pipe it or go AWE or Akro.

It totally is dependant upon how loud and how aggressive you want to go.. I am still stock at the moment but I may go MPE...

m.b is literally driving a 21 at the moment I am typing this. Can't wait to hear what he says compared to his 20........

My 21 just got a AWE Track exhaust on last week and I'm enjoying every moment of the exhaust besides the cold start that's all.

The burbles are there at really low rpm just not a lot but more noticeable than the stock exhaust.

So no pops unless you upgrade exhaust on a 2021?? Bummer. I had a 2020 as a loaner and it popped like crazy - what a shame they took it out!

How much does it cost you guys to get the MPE installed when you purchase??
