Hi all,

Just picked up a G20 2 weeks ago and something on the highway hit the center grille and slightly cracked it. Luckily it didn't hit the bumper.

Part is relatively inexpensive. Is there a way to replace the center grille without removing the bumper? If the under shields are removed, could it be swapped out that way?

I had this happen on my old F32. Dealer had to pull the bumper off. My guess is it's probably the same?

Hmm probably. Would be nice if it could be done without removing the bumper.

No it's not possible, this trim is attached from the back side. You will have to remove the bumper.

I have attached instructions for a bumper replacement. You can skip most of the stuff there, but it includes the instructions for removing the bumper. Just look at it, should be clear which steps you can skip.

This just happened to me, got my car 3 weeks ago and hit a squirrel. I ordered the replacement part for it for like $75 on Amazon and talked to a friend at a local shop. They said they wouldn't recommend DIYing it as you have to take the bumper off and there's a ton of sensors that are hard to deal with. They said it's much more expensive to do it at a dealership than a shop btw.

Yes. Agreed. I went to the dealer for inspection and he said the same thing. Cost sound 400 just to remove the bumper and definitely not a DIY. I have the part, just waiting for the weather to get better. I'll take it to a local shop.

These grills suck. Soo flimsy.

It isn't too hard tbh, I did it before. You just need a car jack (just a small one you can use to change the rims at home) to get the wheel arch trim out and a second person when removing the bumper itself. Everything else is not too hard if you know how to use a screwdriver and a ratchet.

Where are you located? I'd be too nervous of breaking something. LOL

I'm based in Munich. No need to be nervous, if you never wrenched on your car, maybe start with something else first (i.e. give the front bumper issue to a shop for now). While it isn't particularly hard to drop the bumper, you probably still shouldn't do it if you don't have any experience at all.

I just got mine done at the dealership for around $700. Insurance took care of it.
