New Owner Questions

Just picked up my new M340i yesterday.

Q1 - When I walk away from the vehicle locks, but when I approach it doesn't unlock before touching the handle, the (welcome) lights do not come on either...Everything seems to be turned on properly in settings, I got the impression it was supposed to do this. I'm using the same key I used at dealer.

Q2 - The info screen should be saying "Welcome (your name)" . Mine only says welcome than at the bottom I have to pick my name or guest...? Is that normal. I thought it was just gonna say my name at the top...

I know there might be answers on this already, trying to avoid the search.

If you have comfort access properly configured the doors should unlock as you approach the car (when you get within a few feet of the car). There are a few quirks:

If you lock the car with the key fob, as opposed to just walking away, then you will have to touch the door handle or use the key fob to unlock it again.

If you have not used the car for 3 days or longer then comfort access disables.

Check out the doc about comfort access.
As for profile - you need to create a profile and then it will be bound automatically to the key. When you unlock the car it will load your profile automatically.

When you create a profile you lose your current configuration as far as i remember.

I’ve configured the car to open/close when approaching/walking away from the car but the wing mirrors don’t fold in so I still need to use the key for this. Seems a shame unless I’m missing something?

Mine fold. Maybe reboot the idrive if everything appears configured

Of course the things I discussed above were working at dealer. When I took it home it stopped working. I had made a BMW account when I was tracking my car months ago. I have a feeling dealer might have created another account without asking me. I'm pretty tech savvy, hoping to figure this out without having to go back. I found my "BMW Genius" not too Genius...

youshouldnt' have to touch the handle for it to unlock. it just unlocks if you are within range if you have that setting turned on

Correct but mine were turned off until I scrolled through settings and clicked them on.
