What job/jobs did you enjoy the most? What job/jobs did you hate?

I started off working at my local Dunkin doughnuts when I was 17.

This was my first job. I worked there for about a year. God, I hated that job,

Woke up early (5 am) and worked until 1-2 pm. It was hell, especially during the ice cream season and whatnot.

The manager was a b*tch. First off, she paid the girls more money than the two other guys that worked alongside me. We got paid $8.25/hr (State Minumum wage). While the girls got paid $9.50/hr.

I didn't find that out until a week or so before I walked out of the store. The manager would have us guys do so much shit. We had to sweep and mop the floors, shovel, clean the dishes, clean the drive-through bs, clean the damn ice cream freezers and, PAINT THE DAMN CEILING??? I walked out the day I was told to paint the damn ceiling . Never came back.

The job I enjoyed the most was working for a Kia dealership. I worked there for 1 year. I learned a lot from the managers and my employees. It was a fun expirnce.

Sadly I quit because I decided to go back to school and the GM couldn't fit work times around my class timing.

One of my employees was actually a BMW/Porsche enthusiast. On the side, he flipped Porsches and BMWs. He owns a 1995 BMW M5. He has a separate garage out back he built and has a lift in it.

I remember when I found out my OPG and VCG were leaking I asked him if he was willing to fix it if I paid him $1500k labor.

He was like, "Hell no those are a PIA"

In college, I loved and also hated working for an emergency animal health clinic. Death was too much for me to handle after a year. I’m the last person the animal sees before it passes on. After the owners would leave, I’d go in the back and cry. It never got any easier.

That sounds hard. Could never have a job like that. Could never stop seeing those faces.

Animals know when they're going to die. It's so fucking hard to watch the life fade from their eyes.

After being corporate for most of my working life, I decided to do something less boring and became a licensed Vet Tech. I ended up in an Emergency & Referral hospital (the other vets referred their hard cases to us).
The death, but also recovery, were daily emotional rides, but the fractious kitties that didn't want their temps taken or wouldn't take a pill, etc., were the worst!
MEOW!!

I've mentioned this job before, but my best job was as an ocean lifeguard on Fire Island, NY, in the early '70s.
FYI, Fire Island doesn't have cars, so people just walk around barefoot & in bathing suits looking at each other & getting horny. The 70's were a time of liberation, sex, & drugs! Being a lifeguard at 'ground zero' for this party was great!
Oh yea, I love to body surf.
$10. a day to start, but worth it.

I've had corporate jobs since 2014. They're all fine, the ones that have a lot of travel I enjoy the best, but truthfully, I have significant anxiety about my intellectual capabilities, how I am perceived, and so forth which makes the day-to-day difficult to live with no matter what job I'm at. Whenever we do leadership development, they ask where do you see yourself, so I say the obligatory "VP of...". I've realized, it's a means to an end, I would leave if I could, but then would not make the kind of salary I'd need to retire happy. So for now, it's a matter of bearing. I think I'd enjoy driving an Uber, but not until I have a significant enough safety net.

The only "job" that I consider is being Dad. Everything else is a means to accomplish the task related with that position.

Probably the worst job I had was during school. Class was five days a week, 5am - 12pm. My shift at the local grocery store in the meat department was nearly every day 1pm - 11pm; sometimes later if I closed by myself and had to do all cleanup and everything solo. Was a drag being IN the classroom by 5am, but generally getting to bed by about 1am. Had to keep up car insurance, rent, food...you know bills. Those were some draining times for effectively minimum wage.

Best job may be where I'm at right now. Large corporation in a great industry making good money with lots of valuable connections to continue up the ladder as I've already done. TOTAL shift from my previous career in a drastically different industry doing drastically different things, but the risk looks to be paying off in the short time I've been here. Best I can say is don't be afraid to roll the dice. It's bit me in the ass more times than I can count, but it's nice when it pays out.

At the end of the day it's a job to fund the things I really care about. A lot of people forget that and try to focus on what fun things they like and try to convert them into a career. I'm sure it works for some folks, but the masses will find that turning your hobby into a job really make your hobby no fun. Once that's realized, find something that's "tolerable" to allow you to afford the life you want.

I didn't particularly like going to Vietnam. I did a 12 month tour in the 25th Infantry Division. At least I had an "end date" to look forward to.

Every job since then has been a piece of cake, even if I didn't like it.

My current job is my favorite, managing an autobody for a dealership group.

My favorite growing up was Blockbuster video in 1990. My best friend and I were hired a few weeks prior to opening to set up the store at minimum wage. We were 16 and would work every weekend. It was a great way to meet/flirt with girls. I never met any truthfully but it was fun anyway.

My least favorite, thats a tough one. All my jobs have been managing bodyshops since I was 21 (now 46) so its what I love doing. Some end due to moving, some end just b/c its time but hopefully this current one last until retirement.

Easy
Worst job: working at a tire and battery shop in south Florida. Unloading those trucks on inventory days in the summer was clearly hazard duty.

Best job: Technical illustrator for a manufacturing company. I loved reading all the data then converting it to drawings.

Pizza the Hut was most fun I’ve had at a job. Worked there 4 years in college in early 1990s. Learned a lot, had fun, made money. I worked as a delivery driver (81 Buick skylark!!), cook, supervisor, waiter, resulting in a lot of difference experience.

I enjoyed my job as a security guard while in college. Mainly because i didnt give an eff and liked riding around in the golf cart. I was eventually asked to leave.

The best job I had was a weekend of security when the Grateful Dead came to town.

The security company was so kind, they brought us lunch each day, and one morning the "Security" jacket I was issued included a roach in the pocket. . .
