Brake and Rotor Service
I need to replace my front and rear pads pretty soon. As per my service advisor for pads replacement and rotor resurface they will charge $1,933 with taxes already included (NY).
Does anyone know if this is fair price or a rip-off? Is there a better way to go about this than going through BMW service. Don't want to get inferior quality pads and service though. |

Definitely what Chubbie said. For that price you can do a big brake kit upgrade

It's pretty much the going rate. Labor now is around $200hr. If you're handy at all why don't you just replace the pads yourself for less than $100? I've owned BMW's since 1987, plus other makes and motorcycles, and have never replaced a rotor. My thought is if they aren't warped or have heat spots , they're fine.

My go-to brand for improving braking performance is Zimmermann, here is their web site https://www.otto-zimmermann.de/en/ - click on CATALOG , input your car info & it will show all the available options.

Did my brakes all around for $800 dollars parts + labor, all OEM parts. Let me know if you need part #'s. Front pads were $250, Rear pads were $180, as well as 2 Brake pad wear sensors which were less than 60 bucks for both. Resurfaced Front Rotors ($50 a piece) and did not touch rear rotors as they were perfectly fine. No squeaks, no noise, they work perfectly fine and perform as they came brand new. Gets driven hard no issues sitting at 34k were changed at 30K.

Regular pads shouldn't require any specific bed in procedure. You can do several 60-10mph hard stops just before ABS kicks in.

Vibration when braking above 60+ mph, there was definitely a notable lip on edge of the rotor car went through two track sessions. Going replace rotors on next brake service. Rear rotors are still untouched.
