Dealer hasn't asked for the deposit

Soooo... my dealer hasn't asked me for a deposit, and my car is almost done with the final assembly. Is that something to worry about? They did say that if I choose not to accept the delivery I get a full refund of my deposit. My dealer is in the northeast, so could that be why? Anyone else not have to pay a deposit to start the build order? Another reason could be they already had an order submitted, and when my request came to them they just updated it to match my build options?

One of my local BMW dealership specifically don't take deposits for custom order, if the person decides not to take the delivery, they will just sell it to other person. Given the current market, dealer is happy to do that since they might be able to do mark up.

I had to make a $500 dollar deposit for my m340i.

That seems like the reason. They will have no trouble finding a buyer in this market.

My dealer asked for $2k but said it was refundable… they never cashed the check so my account has been out of balance for months!

Yes. When I cancelled my first order, the $1000 deposit I paid got refunded the very next day.

Yes, it was refundable. I transferred it from my deposit on the I4 M50 to the M340i.

My dealer in Northern California only ran a credit check but didn't require a deposit.

My dealer didn’t run a credit check or ask for a deposit. Paying cash for the car though, and I did build an X7 through them that I picked up in April. Had 1k down for that build.

I did have to get pre-approved with BMW FS, so that was my credit check.
