Is it possible to order 330e (hybrid) xdrive?

Just spoke with the dealership and was told that it's not possible to order xdrive 330e at the moment, however this car is available on the web site.

Is it the case, or I'm being told incorrect information?

Maybe your dealer doesn’t have an allocation for a while. ??

There was a "stop sale" on 330e's due to an issue with software and backup camera for a few weeks, but it has been lifted.

Maybe that is what the dealer was referring to.

As noted above - it could be an allocation issue. I had to wait three months for my dealer to get an allocation.

So, unless they have a specific allocation for xdrive, it's not possible to convert existing regular to xdrive, that's how it works?

Sometimes you can convert between the to and sometimes not, it depends on the model and I'm not sure about the 330e. I think what people were referring to is them not having any 330e allocations.

It’s one thing that salesmen don’t often make clear. Dealers get allocations for specific models and specific build weeks.

For example, they might have an allocation for an M340i in week 45. If you want a car ordered specifically for you, they must first have a matching allocation. They can usually add/change all the options to get exactly what you want (assuming they have not finalized the order specs), but not change the model.

IIRC, if they have a production order number but don’t yet have a VIN assigned, you may be able to still make changes to an existing order.

Yes, except for cases where Individual items were ordered, changes can be made to the order until it reaches Production Begins (150). At that stage a VIN is assigned and parts ordered/allocated.

I would ask them for more information, and also call another one. They may not have an allocation, but another could. Alternatively, if you mentioned any timeline for getting the car (such as before the tax credit eligibility ends on January 1st), they may have said no simply because they don't think they'll make the schedule. I'm just guessing though - they'll know why they told you what they did.

330e (and 330i) are switchable between RWD and AWD

Thanks for replies.
Dealership told me that they usually don't get allocations for 330e xdrive (it's Texas), called several around - same answer. And existing allocation they were not able to convert it to xdrive (it was not in production yet).

well, the people you talked to were idiots because it is really easy to switch. Every month, they get a notice once the allocations are out letting them know which models can be converted back and forth. So sorry that the dealers you talked to are dumb.

Well, it is what it is. I decided to proceed with a regular one to get the tax credit by the end of this year.
