Car will be parked for a couple months, how to prepare?

I need to travel for at least 2 months and my car will be parked in an underground garage unused.

Should I disconnect the battery entirely or is there a way to put it into a "no battery draw" mode?

A trickle charger or a solar charger is not an option for me.

For 2 months, probably not an issue. Wash it, fill the gas tank, and that is about it. If you have a quality car cover that would be nice bonus.

Garage List
Mine sits all winter while the snow blows (4-5 months). No issues, simply hookup a battery tender, cover it and all will be good when you come back.

I think the manual states what to do for storing
Also perhaps over inflate the tyres to mitigate against flat spots.( I think you can buy pads for the wheels I go on if this is going to be a regualr thing , they are curved so the tyre rests evenly in them)

A battery tender is not an option for me as there is no accessible power (or sunlight) in this garage.

Should I just disconnect the battery?

It's not gonna hurt anything to do it, but i don't think it would be necessary for that specific amount of time. I would if it was 5/6+ months without moving and i couldn't trickle charge. Idk if you have a plan to have someone move the car if there is an emergency while you're gone, but a disconnected battery would certainly complicate that process if it had to be moved very quickly.

No need. The parasitic draw will be negligible, so unless your battery is ready to die, you will not have any issues.

Do you know what the parked draw is?

A 1-watt draw will take a 105Ah battery down to 50% in 1.5 months.

I may have to measure it to see.

I wonder if it has a low-power mode after sitting for a while. I had an old ducati that would start turning things off like the alarm LED after 72 hours of sitting.

FWIW I had to let my 23 M440i sit for 6 weeks after surgery recently. I didn’t leave it on a battery tender and it started right up. I don’t think another few weeks would have made any difference

Based on some research an average of about 65 milliamps
