While I agree it's not likely, there wouldn't need to me any chassis changes to accomplish this just different wheel specs and at most different fender/wheel well linings

Not surprised on the bread and butter models, and that includes the M-sport models.
Like the G30 models, it appears to use the same caliper, suited to the electric parking brake. Probably the same TRW design. |

They should've changed the front more. In this attached portion of the G20 I can't even tell that it's a G20, looks almost identical to F30.
I had also photoshopped side vents onto the G20 and it looks weird. The vertical crease where it would go is horizontally inverted from every other BMW. |

The new three series looks new as a whole but is still distinctly 3 series...

The silver Rearview Mirror Caps look terrible! It looks like a mistake .
BMW paint them the same color of the car please or black. And the Butterfly Grill needs to be redesigned. |

"Distinctly 3 series" in this context == E90-esque. Time to evolve. Let's look at the front portion of the Z4 from the side. Much more of a dramatic difference. Last edited by praxis218; 10-12-2018 at 06:27 PM.. |

Personally, I always felt like the silver/aluminium contrasting mirror caps were too Audi-esque (i.e., S4, RS4, etc.) and the mesh/crystal design on the grilles is a page out of Mercedes-Benz's playbook ("diamond grille"). But, the silver/aluminium mirrors don't look bad in person (such as the M550i), it's just not a distinctively BMW design. As for the mesh/crystal grilles, it'll take some time to get used to. Going back on topic, a good question to ask would be whether Black M Performance Grilles with the single slat are a direct swap to the M340i.

sort of on a tangent... but the e89 >>> g29 for me. I'm guessing the G29 drives better, but I wish it looked like the e89 |

I'm a little underwhelmed by the looks of it in the wild.
It needs a black grille, better rims, and splitter or better spoiler.

Just noticed a kink on the body panel behind the front wheel
right before the curve sweeps up like a Lexus IS not a fan of that kink either the biggest thing is the grille and the bulbous lower rear the rear lights are beginning to look more Audi like to me |

It's not a terribly ugly design, but the rear reminds me too much of an IS (not necessarily a bad thing), the front bumper is ugly and the front grille isn't flattering either and those wheels should look different they remind me of the Audi S3 wheels.

Many of these comments are hilarious.
Please, go the F30 and E90 forums. Look at the early F30 comments in both forums, and you'll see the same comments about how this doesn't look like BMW, or a 3 series, or that it's too Japanese, or not German enough, blah, blah, blah. I just got a 2018 Audi S4, and it looks very nice. The problem? It doesn't compare favorably to how both of my F30's drove, 335i Msport and 340i Msport. When this S4 lease is over I'm heading back to BMW for how BMW designs driver ergonomics and it's superior engineering in drivability. Those are the things that set BMW apart. If you want your German sport sedan to look like it performs better, then go with an Audi or MB. If you want it to perform, feel, and work like a BMW, then get a BMW. I got the S4 because my lease ran out and I didn't want to wait 6-8 months. Had I known then what I know now I would have waited. Life is short, change cars often. |

Yup, it's a driving machine. And this one will probably better than the last. My mid-cycle update '16 340 with adaptive suspension and all the goodies is a great car. My lease is up in February, and I'm shopping. I tried an '18 Audi S5 V-6 and thought "Ehh". Driving home in the 340, I knew it was a better car than the new Audi. I may get kicked out of the club, but I have never bought BMWs for what I have always thought were their 'rather ordinary' looks, but because they come closer to "the ultimate car" driving experience than anything else on the road. Now, if I can just get one with less than $10K premium over a Genesis G70 - - - |
