The M340i is a brilliant car
Hi All,
Not sure if this belongs here but figured I'd share. I was in LA visiting some friends and getting some shoots in when I had an opportunity to shoot my friend's cousin's M340i. Upon first glance (first time seeing in person) I was absolutely blown away at how good it looks. It's sharp from every angle and especially menacing-looking from the front. The Alpine white with the black accents makes it all the much better. Although I wasn't able to drive it, I went for a ride and could tell it had some pep to its step. My next car list was narrowed down to strictly a F8x, but now this seriously has me thinking twice Absolutely brilliant cosmetically, and performance-wise. Enjoy. If you like my work, please feel free to follow my Instagram. It would mean a lot. @jdine_media Last edited by j2dad5389; 11-18-2020 at 01:11 PM.. |

Nice pics! That looks great. I was talking with an F80 owner and he loved it but said the maintenance costs were killing him so was leaning towards getting an M340i.

The thing is much cooler than a Tesla model 3. I appreciate Elon, love the stock (buy it for the lulz and gains), admire the company, but this thing is infinitely better looking than that hunchbacked toad of a car. I'm a red blooded American, I want to drive a fast car to satisfy my fragile ego, not drive an iPhone.

This post sounds like it could have been from any one of Trump's fanbase. Those iPhones could smoke ANY of the BMW lineup.

Nice looking M340i. Tough decision between getting a F80 or M340i. You would need to test drive both then make a decision on which one appeals to you more

Yeah, the Tesla's will smoke any BMW from a standstill. A Model-3 can also hold it's own on the track really well for a while. They are great cars. That's why I switched to a Tesla from my old BMW 335i. But I test drove the M340i recently and I prefer it to my Model S. I also prefer the M340i over the Tesla Model-3 Performance that I test drove. The interior of the M340i is nicer, the handling is way better, the feel of the car is way, way better, etc. I guess I also miss the engine noise that adds to the fun of driving. Somehow the BMW just has more character while the Tesla does feel like an appliance on wheels. I don't miss trips to the gas stations though. Overall, I'm fairly sure I will switch back either to the M340i or I will wait for the M3 to become more widely available. These cars are fantastic.

G20 (M340i) and F80 should not be compared... Totally different vehicles.
The M340i is a great car, however, after 3 years of an F80 ownership, it is closer to Model 3 than to an M3 (feel, fun, noise...) |

What do you mean by noise? The F80 doesn't exactly sound good.

I wouldn't have so much of an issue with Tesla if there cars were aesthetically pleasing on the outside and didn't look like a minimalistic LA showroom on the inside.
I like clean interiors, but when you have no digital display on the driver side I feel like I'm looking at a tabletop at Crate & Barrel. |

Yet you don't see anybody viewing Tesla as a performance company coveted by driving enthusiasts. It's coveted by nerds. There's more to life than 0-60.

I have an M340i and a Model X. The instant response to the pedal is amazing indeed, but it ends there. Pretty much everything else is better on the BMW, including the self driving stuff. Tesla's "autopilot" has more features for sure, but everything is beta and unfinished. BMW does less, but much better on what it does.
If I could have the M340 with Model 3 Performance's power train, that would be the perfect car, minus the engine sound of course.
