Agree that's a fools game. In the 3 years with my model s and 4 months and 11k miles with my i4 I can tell you that's a scenario that I never saw played out.

Do you have the link to that Amazon EV cable holder?

Question a twist in the pigtail?

Did you have to put a twist in the pigtail that plugs into the outlet? My pigtail has the plug and front of the charger unit facing the same way and I'm reluctant to put a 180 degree twist in it.

I did. I’ve used this cable like this exclusively, it doesn’t overheat or create any problems. The cable complies with the twist and there are no issue with twisting it.

To help others:
I just priced this wall mount hanger kit:

GetBMWParts - $35 + $20 shipping = $55
eBay - the one I found was over $62 + $50 shipping, and the page was in German with no pic so no idea if it was even the right part.

ShopBMWUSA - $42 + $3 tax + shipping = $59
--> OR you can have it shipped FREE to your local dealer and pick it up. I chose this route and paid
$42 + $3 tax = $45

**EDIT** - 2 mins after I placed my order I got an email saying it was "Ready for pickup" at my dealer, so they apparently have them in stock. Had I known that, I would have just driven down there and paid for it using my BMWCCA discount; I didn't see a way to use that when purchasing online :-/

BTW, I plan on having my outlet installed high up on the wall, and mounting my wall mount for the brick on the ceiling. Then I will hang the end of the cable from a ceiling mounted tool balancer (from Amazon) over the car to hopefully work out a solution.

Anyone have any feedback on the appropriate weight tool balancer to purchase? I was going to order a 2lb - 7lb one and try that. Once I monkey around with it I will see if two lighter weight ones might work better.

What I REALLY want to do is build an arm on a pivot that swings to the front or rear of the parking spot depending on if the car was pulled in forward or backed in. But with only needing to charge it 1xweek that may be overkill.

I don't see why it won't work but it seems like a highly specific solution for a problem you may not really encounter as much as you think. The 20ft cable is going to be pretty forgiving . Also I'm a preacher of the merits of the flex fast charger as your everyday charging solution, but if for some reason you got a different setup I'd just make sure it would still make sense. If there is a way to mount the charger in the middle of the wall it should reach either side of your car fairly easy. But without seeing pics of your garage or even a sketch of what you intend I'm sorta guessing

Thanks, yes. The outlet I am having installed will be roughly next to the driver side rear door when pulled straight in; next to the front passenger door when backed in. So yes, it should reach either way as is. I'll have time to tinker until I have a setup I'm happy with.

I won't be installing an actual charger in the foreseeable future - my garage is only fed 50amps so no advantage there.
