Also sat in the interior and its nice but I do have some nits to pick. All the leather materials feel great, but the plastics need improvement. The top of the dash isn't the best material, but feels less cheap than the F30 but weirdly the X3 has a nicer stitched top dash/door pannels and the 3 doesn't while still being the same price, (could this be a sansatec package?). The door armrest no longer has stitching but still feels nice, but could be a tiny bit cushier. The bottom plastics are still too cheap (not just a problem with the 3, many BMW's have this. I sat in a $130k 8 convertible, and the lower plastics were barely soft, and embarrassing for a car of that price to even have it), and my leg hits a plastic piece by the cup holders and can be seen in photo #9 below (the plastic didn't feel too tightly pieced together, felt loose and the piece would move around) I remember even the E46 (even with leatherette) would have a soft touch knee rest. Other than the bottom plastics the interior is nice, but I do wish they would improve the materials, especially since the car I sat in was $63k, and wasn't fully loaded (missing executive package). Also hopefully we get the shadow-line package, the cerium gray doesn't fit the car and gets dirty easily and requires a different cleaning process.

Here's some pics
Is this trim "Fine-wood trim ash grey-brown high-gloss" ? It looks a little bit different than it looks in the builder

The model i sat in had high gloss trim yes, i'm not up to date on all the new trims so can't really confirm which is which but here's a photo. The car's window sticker says this is Ash-Gray.

I think you either love the new M340i grills or you hate them. I am among the former and think they look pretty nice. But for those who don't agree, I think it's a pretty easy fix.

I actually don't mind the new grills, I honestly think the problem for me with them is the cerium gray accents. The Cerium Gray just doesn't fit the car well, gets super dirty/stains, and is hard to clean, all would be well if BMW just gave us a damn shadow-line package like they literally do in every other country than the US (seriously, why are we the only ones without that option?)

I'd never heard of shadow line trim before, but googled it and you're right it looks pretty nice. Seems like an easy aftermarket install though.

I don't personally own this vehicle or an M340i yet (I am waiting for BMW to get all of the kinks out of first year production, specifically iDrive 7.0), this was just one of the M340i's at my local dealer that I took pics of.

Yep at Catonsville, although when I went they only had 2 M340i's on the lot.

I really don't understand the hate for the G20. Think about it from a far as someone who isn't really into cars and is just driving on the road.

To them the G20 pulling up next to them will look like any other older model BMW from the front. Even though the grille is bigger I doubt they notice and even if they do so many car manufacturers have bigger grilles these days.

Yes the rear tail lights are a bit of a change but that's no big deal. Just about every car brand changes the rear tail lights with a new model. I do wonder if these tail lights will be like the E90 and the 5 series BMW in the late 2000s where they were retired afterwards.

TLDR: No point of picking apart the car so much. The average person is going to think it looks like any other BMW of the past if not better.

M340i Interior

Here are some interior pics from my AW/Mocha M340i.

The quality has REALLY stepped up a notch from the F30, but there are some questionable hard plastics still around.

If you haven't already ordered, I'd highly consider the open-pored wood trim options over the aluminum. It's free and higher grade.

The MSRP of this build is $64k. It has pretty much every option save for the Adaptive M Suspension and Executive Package.

I think if you are still considering which options, you should 'future proof' as much as possible and get all the parking and driving assistance tech

Future proofing was my rationale as well for getting the full driver assistance packages.

Even if all the hardware is there, I'm still having trouble picturing BMW charging money (post-purchase) for autonomous driving upgrades. I figured they'd just leave the old models in the dust to entice people to just get new cars at the end of their 3 year leases. I'll be glad if BMW proves me wrong though.

The grill is STILL an issue in that photo. It is just plain ugly.

I really hope the ///M versions rectify some of what is wrong with this new design.

The E92 doesn't look like a Lexus. This new 3 has distinct Lexus cues, especially from the rear. Don't take it personal.
