Full screen Android auto
I wanted to know if it's possible and if anyone has managed to code full screen Android auto?
I've searched but only seem to find threads about full screen car play. Finding it increasingly annoying that only 75% of the screen is really used. I've got a '21 F40. |

It would be nice to either add the portion on the side (shows date and time in my car IIRC) to make android auto bigger. Or show something else on that screen. Is it possible to show something else there other than date and time?

Hmmm. I don't use Spotify so I'm not sure. Mine is always open to Waze. I've used it only a few times though. I believe Waze wasn't full screen. The right one third had the time or something on it. Can't remember now though.

Being an Android user, this is one of the biggest pet peeves I have with BMW AA. I had the same issue in my X5 and now in the M5.
In our Audi, AA was perfectly integrated where you could have maps up on the whole screen and switch tracks at the bottom of the screen without exiting. There is really no need for 30% of the screen to be taken up by album art (unless you choose to.) When you open up the BMW standard navigation screen, the screen looks SO MUCH bigger just because of that extra real estate. I hope BMW comes up with an update soon. |

From an AA software perspective, the map can be displayed full screen. However, it's up to the car manufacturers to decide whether they want to do it or not.
BMW has decided not to do so, maybe to ensure the map is correctly displayed in all of its screens, who knows.

I'm just coming across this thread because I was wondering the same thing. My wife uses Apple carplay and I use Android Auto. Apple carplay DOES display on the full screen for things like Waze or Google Maps, but Android Auto only uses a portion of the screen while the other 25-30% of the screen is used for things like time/date or album cover etc.
I also would love it if Android Auto displayed full screen. Not sure why BMW has this possibility with carplay but not AA.

I meant to say why they choose to with carplay but not with AA
