I'm not sure I understand the question?

What are you trying to achieve? Buy esysx and FDL code the values, or VO Code with esys. As long as you don't write the FA to the car the end result is the same.

What is the different between FA and VO coding?

I think you need to do a lot more research on coding. Start here:

I had tried using e-sys to read and and activate FA. After read the cafd, i cant edit anything and i get “No EST file chosen. [C155]” error. Any idea what i’m missing out?

Removing it from your FA and VO Coding the specific ECU(s) that it impacts, will revert the coding and activate the decoded feature. If you save the modified FA back to the car then the feature will remain active even after full-car i-step upgrades.

You can't use esys to fdl code without a launcher

Any idea how do i VO code the below using E-sys?

BDC_Body3 > CAFD_7083 > SPURWECHSEL_ASSISTENT
Default: nicht_activ
Change to: activ

HU_MGU > CAFD_3E52 > SPURWECHSELASSISTENT
Default: nicht_activ
Change to: gen_1

SAS2 > CAFD_42C1 > C_SWA_VORHANDEN
Default: Nr000_nicht_vorhanden
Change to: NR001_VORHANDEN

Thats FDL. You need a launcher!

Hi,

Any idea how do i VO code the below using esys?

HU_MGU (that controls the menu item)
SAS2 (or SAS3 if on i-step 07/2020 and later) - this sets and enables the type of lane change used. USA version works much better than the non-US version, but youd need to FDL code to change it. If you find the lane change slow/cautious in changing lanes then you probably have the non-US version set.
BDC (7083) - that makes the menu item active

You can do all of this from esys without a launcher needed

Wanna do this on my 2019 330i. But I wonder if the assisted driving view requires the 360 degree surround cameras to make it work. My 2019 330i has DAP Pro but no 360 cameras

Hello
Thank you very much for this information.
I want to open this feature as you mentioned. I'm more amateur on this.
So could you write something a little more descriptive? about how to do it?
If there is a video of a similar operation, it would be great if you could post it?

anri1 ,

From what information you provided, it should be able to be coded in your car.

HOWEVER, Lane Change Assistant can NOT be coded with Bimmercode because Bimmercode can NOT code the SAS module

Hi.

Thank you for replay.

I don't need Lane Change Assistant. I just want Assistance Drive View and Remote Engine Start.

Have a question???
Just got my first OTA software update notification....07/2020.80 ready to be installed.

Will it override the coding done on the car?
I have coded Anti-dazzle high beams, AS/S-Off, Assisted driving view, bunch of other stuff.
I used Code my bimmer guy's and don't want to lose it.

Anybody has experience with it?

Yes, most if not all of it depending on what istep you were on previously.

The bigger the jump in software version the more ECU that are likely to be programmed and recoded to your car baseline VO.

Kombi, KAFAS, bdc, hu_mgu, will all be wiped. Not sure about DME

Aero7000 ,

When my car got its first OTA several weeks ago, almost all of my custom coding was gone. Having said that, however, that wasn't a surprise since anytime my car got an update, it meant that I had to re-code the custom coding

Thanks ifr and RSnic,
I checked the upgrade list and there is nothing really worth the hassle.
I will just cancel it.

Cheers

So the best approach is diag mode but then there is increased risk of battery drain and shutoff hence using the voltage regulator/battery charger to be minimise risk.

if I do coding on a 330e should I code with engine running or in diagnostic mode (w/o charger but vehicle fully charged) ?

is diagnostic mode using the high voltage battery ?

I do most of my coding in diag mode without the engine running, but with a full(ish) battery.

I do programming with a voltage regulator attached.

Best practice would be diag mode with a battery charger connected, but in reality, as long as your battery has decent charge, you turn off HAVC, lights and media, and don't spend hours at it, coding without a charger should be fine. You get warnings when the battery is running low.

The lowest risk approach is to keep the engine running for all ECU coding except VIP and DME. I expect the same principles to apply with a plug-in hybrid, but I don't have one.

Or i still need to code the below?

BDC_Body3 > CAFD_7083 > SPURWECHSEL_ASSISTENT
Default: nicht_activ
Change to: activ

HU_MGU > CAFD_3E52 > SPURWECHSELASSISTENT
Default: nicht_activ
Change to: gen_1

SAS2 > CAFD_42C1 > C_SWA_VORHANDEN
Default: Nr000_nicht_vorhanden
Change to: NR001_VORHANDEN
If you have 8TR or 8TU or 8LS or in your FA, and you remove it, then VO Coding BDC, SAS and HU, will automatically set those FDL settings.

Alternatively you can FDL code the above, but will need a launcher for esys, and you will need to recode after each i-step upgrade where any of the target ECU are upgraded.
I don't have any of these in my FA ?

Only 801,851,879,8EK,8KA,8R9,8TF

edit: I did some research on another discussion and 801,851,879 are language settings and 8TF is pedestrian protection

And is there a database where i can find out the meaning of each of these ? (I only found 1 posting and it was for F30)

Sorry for bothering u again. I hope u have a wonderful Christmas time
