MFR'ing Location from Production Number?
Is it possible to determine the location of manufacture from the production number?
alternatively, can it be determined from the destination port? |

If the VIN starts with a "3", as in '3MW...', it's built in Mexico. If the VIN starts with a "W", as in 'WBA...', it's built in Germany. |

production numbers don't have anything to do with production location. They usually determine what region the production is for--starting with 6 or 7 is usually US market. 0 is another region and the reason we are getting production numbers that start with 0 is because BMW AG is shifting units away from that region to the US market.
