Now I have my car back, I've got it set to max charging and it charges at 10amps which it never seemed to do at home before. Much quicker charging now.

is there any way to tell in the car what current it is currently charging at? Charging from the granny charger and it says "Max 10A", but not sure its at that.
Says fully charged (from 0%) in about 6 hours, and 3pin plug is a tiny bit warm, so guessing it might be.

The length of the granny charger cable supplied with the car is just too short.
I've looked at extension cables, at both 3-pin plug end and type-2 end. Both have pros and cons for my use case, but neither ideal:
...so was looking at replacing the entire charger, as could at least keep the BMW one in the boot as a spare. Has anyone purchased and using a third-party granny charger on their 330e with a longer cable? I see even Argos sell a 10m Masterplug one.

The supplied granny cable isn't weatherproof anyway, I believe. Or rather, the brick in the middle isn't. Just splashproof, so you can't use it in the rain.

This is from the manufacturer's online manual (https://www.aptiv.com/docs/default-s...rsn=acac163e_2)
And yet in the specs it says IP67. Those two don’t add up. IP67 isn’t 'do not splash’!!! |

Sure. I wouldn't recommend sticking it in a bucket of water, but the manual does say IP67 (page 20; Specifications)... which is plenty robust enough to be left out in UK weather. I guess the contradiction is just them covering themselves.
Probably best to place it somewhere where it won't sit in water. I have hung mine from a hook on the wall. It does say IP67 on the bottom of the charger itself too.

Yeah, it was the 'do not splash' that initially made me think it can’t be IP67. The manual seems to be a bit contradictory.
I’ll leave mine out in the rain from now on! |
