Hi guys,

I I have a Jan/Feb 2020 build for my G20 M340i and I have the latest software.

So I kinda got a problem. My DME is locked with the software update 07.2020/50 or some sort.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get the DME unlocked without shipping in or around London or just out of the M25 area.

All you've got to do is google some reliable local tuners and they should be able to unlock your DME. Since you're is a pre 06/2020 DME

So just to get this clear, my DME can still be unlocked no matter what software update I have?

Yes, a proper tuner should be able to bench unlock your DME if it is indeed pre 06/2020 DME (not build date of car)


Once unlocked you can tune via OBD II port. If you update again or dealer locks it, you'll have to bench unlock it again.

Well I took delivery of the car in July 2020, the car was built beginning of Jan 2020, could they have changed the DME to a new one? I got the car new with 0 previous owners

Pull the ecu out and check the date on it.

Okay I'm quite a newbie when it comes to this kind of stuff.
I took off the cover for the ECU and saw a cable going into the ecu. It's the yellow cable and had this date on it. Does this help or does the whole ecu have to come out?

All 2020 models must be bench unlocked first. If yours is a 2020 model then most likely it is tunable, but first would require a bench unlock. The Cars production date is on the drivers side door opening, before 06/2020 is Good. Have it bench unlocked and then you can go get it tuned..

I was able to remote unlock my 2020 at home via OBD using the MP software - if your 2020 has not been updated (which it likely has) you may be able to do the same
