Welcome back Madpistol. I was surprised by your first post, as I joined about the same time as you did with the same car. Glad you’re back!

I figure after putting her through hell, I'm gonna have to give her some royal treatment and a spa day.
  1. Detailing
  2. Tint
  3. Wheel scuff repair

Was also thinking about getting her wheels powder coated black potentially. Any other suggestions?

I'm sure we all have our moments, and this one just happened to be mine... and boy was it a doozy.

My suggestion would be to not get the wheels powder coated black. I love those wheels as they are. Just the right amount of silver to create contrast and visual interest. I mean it's your car so ultimately do whatever makes you happy but if your serious about it, I'd consider plasti-dipping them first before you fully commit.

First, I’ll just say I did look at your other pics and I am a huge fan of Tacora Vernasca!! Except that it wouldn’t have been a 2020 model my dream M340i was an Aventurin Red with Tacora Red leather!! I can’t believe you’ve gone this long in Florida without tint. Get a Llumar product. They have ceramic, but they have very good tint that is not ceramic, so ceramic is not the only option. Don’t tint the windshield. Tint the rest at 35%. 35% looks classy and gets the heat rejection job done.

Do NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES make your wheels black!!!!! A big black hole on each corner of your car. Not attractive. The wheels you have are great and the two tones provide dimension and contrast!

Wow I haven't seen Aventurin Red in person, the photos look pretty good.

My base 18" V-spoke bi-color orbit grey wheels, style 780 is also 2 tones, which do enhance the look of my Alpine White 330i a lot.

Thank you BMW for fitting 2-tone orbit grey on a US-spec base 330i.

Here’s a render from the configurator of the one I built when they were available. You can see just a little through the windows that it has the Tacora Red leather.

I like the 780s a lot. When I bought the M340i I had for a short time I also found and bought a set of 780s to use as my winter wheels.

Don't you guys in the US have a configurable tint from the factory?

btw I saw in some of the G20/G26 subforums around here a pic of those rims in black and they didn't look that half-bad. I generally agree it's not an ideal solution but if there's a car color that makes it passable - it must be the Brooklyn Grey.

No factory tint on cars in the U.S. SUVs tend to have tint available for the back windows, but not for the front door windows.

This, exactly.

The whole "make my luxury car look like a police cruiser" nonsense is so 2005.

IDK but this could be an epic troll job, the “other” thread was taking shots at BMW owners and how the IS500 dropped panties at the Cars and Coffee unlike any other car there.

Now the IS500 was crap on wheels a few days later……

I knew that trade just didn't make sense. Glad you were able to get back in the same car!

If you had to change the wheel color, I think bronze would look great on that.

I have all the paperwork to prove it. Not trolling, just really dumb move on my part.

I am a bit confused TBH

In your other thread you said that you "sold" your CG and bought a Lexus. (or did you actually trade it in?)

So did you go get your car back from whoever you sold it to and then went to Lexus dealer after driving brand new car for couple of days and say, I don't like this and here are the keys back???

I think the only party that would end up happy in such transaction would be you which is what probably matters in the end.

I traded it in. Usually it’s not bad to trade back if you trade a used car for a used car, but I traded for a new car, so trading back hurt me financially. It wasn’t good.

I would think each end of this trade back maneuver is easily $5k each, for $10k total cost.😅

It ended up being about $5k total. If it had been $10k, I would have kept the IS 500.

$5k including sales tax paid is not bad at all, I assume the Lexus dealer just somehow undid the new car sales and stopped the DMV registration.
