I remember days when 3 series had no performance parts or carbon fiber add-ons and it was clean and classy. This thing looks like it is trying to compete with Hyundai N-sport or new Civic Type-R. Although I do love carbon fiber parts and performance parts, but for some reason this model looks tacky and busy. The one thing I do like about the new 3 series is the new joint kidney grills.

Side note, I like almost everything here. Seats look awesome and the wheels are absolutely sick!

You make a good point. I suppose when a shit ton of them are on the car at once I find it gimmicky. When done tastefully they work.

Only thing missing is a 6MT. Can't wait until the G80 M3 / G82 M4 comes out with a 6MT option!

Why would they showcase all of these performance parts on the 320 and not the m340?

Because a) it was the biggest seller in the F-series; and b) they've got to try and shift them somehow now nobody's buying diesels anymore!

Im conflicted on this.

I love the shift to sportier and more aggressive styling by bmw...but to allow a 320d to look like a 340 is not my cup of tea. Even down to the tailpipes lol...all its gona take is debaging and we wont be able to tell between the 320/ 330 or 340

The tailpipes are different on the M340i. You can still tell them apart by a few key features. People who don't own 3 series couldn't tell a 320d apart from an M340i regardless. A few M Perf parts won't make much of a diff. People who do own the cars will be able to tell based on a few key things like exhaust and fog lights. That's not too different from how it is with the F30.

Also, in America, at least, no one buys these M Performance parts because it doesn't cost much more to just buy the M340i anyway. Even the jump from the M340i to the M3 is not huge. It might even be less than the cost to fully kit out a car with M Performance parts.

Let's just hope it drives as aggressive as it looks.

I think over time the front end will grow on me but the rear is still a bit fussy.

I'm sold on the wheels, brakes and seats, everything else not so much.

I really don't like the new trend of these giant front grills. Even in all black it looks overdone.

The rear bumper may grow on me over time, but for now it seems too busy.

The black grille is an overkill in this case I think with the G20 the standard one will fit better M340 AW with red interior would be a nice ride
