Sedans are on their way down generally, not just for BMW. BMW needs to pull the 3 from the USA, buy Tesla, and re-badge them for sale there.

They also may need to pull the 4 and 5, and certainly there is no point in a 1 or a 2, because other manufacturers already make hatchbacks and there's no point in trying to compete with them. Amirite?

I went for a drive(again) in the new G20, 330d. My third time in a G20. I am really impressed with how well the car handles yet how comfortable it is. It's also very, very quiet at high speeds. You can feel how much stiffer the car's structure is from that of the F30. I'm even starting to warm up to that backwards tach.

Yup.

As stated, I am a really big fan of the f30, particularly how it drives, handles and looks.

The g20, on the other hand, disappoints in the design department (my opinion of course). So even if it is a 10% improvement mechanically or dynamically, it may still not be worth it for me. Just as I would not buy a mediocre performing 3 series because of its impeccable design. There has to be a balance.

I would rather pick up a CPO f30 or f80 (most likely).

Oh, and there's the manual thing too.

No, I have not actually driven one. I meant to say, that I have been "driven in" one, as a passenger.

I have been in two 320d's... a M sport and a plain jane one. And two 330d. All sedans. I have yet to be in a gasoline version. Yet. I've probably been driven in the G20 for over 500 kms too.

I am very impressed by the driving dynamics of the new G20. I think it will be a major success, when it's released.

Agreed, F30 LCI 340I with M package and 704M wheels is a hot looking BMW. Not too much Transformer like m3 but just right.
This one I'm not sure, it's pretty good but not making me hard.

I think you may have been the only one excited about the f30. It’s by far the worst generation of the 3, including the M. The new one is a huge step in the right direction.

With 'driving dynamics' you are referring to suspension or to the engine?

Can you say something about adaptive vs. standard (M-Sport) suspension? How does 330d G20 compare to F30 regarding the engine?

I am driving a 330d F30 with M-PPK and well above 300hp today so I'm a little bit worried about the 330d G20 as there will be no PPK for this one.

But there will be the M340d Unfortunately not as great an investment as before though, as diesels are doomed and will eventually be forbidden in major EU cities due to the idiotic legislation 😤
