Market forces, "biggest in class", etc. Typical reading I see in the motoring press, is the comparisons for space, rear leg room and the like. We are currently seeing a facelift for the Jaguar XE, (same segment) complaints include rear leg room. Needs to be 'bigger' to get a good review.

Been happening (as we all know) to every generation, across all marques. My current 5-series is bigger than the 7-series my father used to run.

Dimensionally the G20 is nearly identical to my 2002 540.
