That actually signifies upgraded headlights and laser headlights. Not ones for EV.
What would blue trim inside the grilles have to do with laser lights? If that's the case, it makes even less sense. The point is that it carries over from the blue highlights on the i4, which is plastered with it.
Here you go bro, the new G8x with laser lights ☺️
I think you misread my post. I'm not referring to the headlights. I'm referring to the blue paint *inside the grilles*, similar to the i4
Ohhhhh. Yea, I did.

I agree with you!
I see that bmw is trying something different, not a fan of the new direction they are taking.... maybe another market, maybe trying a remix of VW (headlights), MB (new idrive), front design (not sure wtf they tried to copy)......

As long as they don't do the pig snout grill I'm okay with it. I wanted to get the 2021 model, but they dropped the Driving Assistant Pro package due to the chip shortages. Hopefully they bring that option back so I can get a 2021 model before the LCI comes out. Also I'm hoping they improve the tail lights to make it not look like a Lexus.

It's likely that future BMW's will continue to move away traditional design cues but I'm already done with the current BMW's from a design point of view and looking towards the next-gen vehicles.
maybe it's a way of trying to make a particular model stand out with just these little tweaks.

BMW makes every 4 years face lift so that mean beginning of year 2023 and new model every 7 years so beginning of 2026.

I am talking about when sales start not when is presented.

They will present LCI end of 2022.
This is 100% wrong Lml. Bmw model cycle is only 6 years. LCI Every 3. My M340 lease end in 08/22. & The LCI Releases 07/22. The LCI Should Be Shown Around 03/22

I didn't realize LCIs/new models were timed the same way most leases are (three years).

BMW really is the Ultimate Leasing Machine. Wonder if I should feel silly for having actually bought one!

The G20 debuted with the MY 2019 330. So if the LCI drops 07/22 as a MY 23, isn't that 4 years?

No you are incorrect, as stated before the standard bmw model cycle is 7 years with an LCI after year 4
2019
2020
2021
2022
Lci 2023 7/22 production
Lci 2024
Lci 2025 - EOP

The m340 isn't the correct benchmark as it was released in year 2 of the g20 (2020)

It's interesting how people get attached to little things (…kink shape, flame surfacing, halos, etc.), and the minutia makes or breaks an automobile for them. I've never once thought, "Man, that kink! It makes such a design impact that, without it, it messes with overall look of the car." In 20 years of driving BMW's it hasn't factored into anything for me. I was happy to see the traditional ring halos go. It was one of the [many] things I didn't like about my E9X M3's (…color, inconsistent light distribution among the rings, etc.). I did like the regular and ICON halos on the F8X cars though. That said, a headlight sans halos isn't a deal breaker for me either.

I find it even more insane how they can't separate their small detail specific opinion from the general market and make broad sweeping statements about the design…. 99% of the buying public has no clue what a kink even is…. The way they recognize a bmw is the badge that says "BMW"

That's incorrect, M340 debuted in spring 2019 as a 2020MY. Mine for example has a build date of May 2019 but is a 2020MY although it was built in spring of 2019. G20 330i debuted in March of 2019 as a 2019 MY, M340 debuted just 2 months later after the 330i in the same year-2019.

Huh? You repeated what I said. the m340 was introduced model year 2 of the g20. As such the m340 is not the benchmark for the bmw lci cycle. Where was I wrong?

The above timelines were referencing the US model cycle. If you want to use calendar year (as is done globally) the lci is still right on track. The comment I was responding to was indicating the lci is a year early because the m340 launched in model year 2020, not understanding that the g20 platform launched in model year 2019.

You both are correct, M340i was in production early 2019, but sold as 2020 model, we didn't see a lot on the road in 2020 as scumdemic hit and factories were shut down.

At the moment lci's are just a pipe dream. With the global shortage BMW and others have pushed or eliminated many planned lci's
