Why no G30 alloys on G20 ?

G30 20 inch alloys look to me to be an almost direct replacement for G20 19 inch alloys regarding offset ( within a few mm both front and rear ), have the same bolt pattern, are slightly wider and offer some more interesting designs, yet I see very few G20’s with them fitted……am I missing something? 🤔

Hello! I can help here with my personal experience. I thought the same thing and since the chassis is similar (I think CLAR structure but I am not certain there). I took the gamble and used Willtheyfit.com to supplement my initial theory. All that said the offset that I ended up with is slightly different; its all about the wheel dimensioning. In any event, I found the closest offset to the G20 OEM rims and went for it. These are 18" style 619 that I picked up with ET30 offset. Summer rims are the "OEM" G20 19" also pictured in the rear. Its tight, but I'm currently running them in the Midwest for my first season and they're working great!

Thanks senatorpickle……I’m looking at G30 wheels which are 8 x 20 front with ET26 ( ET 27 is OE for G 20/21 ) and 9x20 rears with ET41 ( ET 40 is OE for G20/21 )….I know they will be a little closer to the suspension with the extra width in the rear and with the 245/35 front and 275/30 or 285/30 rear tyres but it looks like it should fit ok and fill the wheel arches without any need for spacers and the wheels themselves just look much better.

Good to hear you’re running yours, all be it different sizes to what I’m looking at without issues 👍

I’ve also asked this question somewhere on the forum I think and no one answered me. Would like to see if anyone has put the 20’s on from the g30.

Yeah my oversight Shadowmanrider, You stated 20's with increased width (fail). That said, I still think Willtheyfit is still a good resource to give you an idea if you'd make it without the addition of spacers. Good luck; I hope someone else chimes in.

Not to thread hijack, but what model Quickjack are you using/are those the frame extenders?

Yessir, replied via PM too with some context as well. Anyone with the G20 should consider the length (long AF) between the factory jack points. Even with the 5000BLX model pictured + extensions, I cannot lift via the more traditional method. Its a bit concerning to me; considering the side-load forces on to the hubs/wheels/suspension componentry, just be delicate and smart if you dare to duplicate this.

I am by no means condoning it and have yet to run an "estimated" static and/or dynamic force calculation.... I'd need to review my college textbook ha.... its probably fine!

Yep, there are some posts on here of the 6000ELX. The challenge is that model won’t fit some smaller cars so if you are trying to have a one-size-fits-all… it becomes complicated.

The side force is a good point, although the first thing that comes to mind is wouldn’t there be a similar concern using a floor jack on the side to change a tire, etc?
