Too much camo to tell for sure, but it looks like they're going with the double-kink like on the X4 and 6er GT. Hopefully not because it doesn't look very sleek.

So M4GC not going to happen?

would be perfect for those wanting a bit more space than M3, but don't want a car as big as the 5 series or heavy as the X3M.

The f36 4gc apparently sold well enough that they brought it back in the g20 chassis. There are several other models that are being discontinued after their first run.

I never understood why people get critical about an auto maker producing more models. If successful, it broadens existing markets, or potentially even creates new markets (making a product people didn't know they wanted). In the case of the 4gc, bmw wasn't the first to market with a 4 door coupe (I think it was MB), but if it's a product concept that sells, why wouldn't they get in on some market share?
Why not bring the station wagon then?
Bmw hasn't stopped making wagons. They just don't offer it in the US, or other markets where wagons fell out of fashion. There are plenty of people who would love to see the wagon offered in the US again though. Unfortunately, in the US everyone just buys boring suvs. I see people with suvs that don't even have kids or, seemingly, any need for extra space for cargo and passengers. It's just what everyone wants now.

The 4gc isn't very much like a wagon either. You might be thinking of the 3 series GT. That model looks a bit more like a wagon. It tries to fill the gap between wagon and suv/crossover. It's also built on the long wheel base f30 that was designed for the Chinese market.

The 4 series gran coupe looks much more streamlined than the 3GT:

I guess you're thinking of a GC as having more space because the trunk opening is larger? The GC has less room for rear seat passengers than an M3. For this reason specifically, I think of the GC as the smaller, sportier sedan. I believe that's the entire marketing concept behind calling a sedan a coupe. Perhaps you mean the GC is more utilitarian than an M3?

Yeah I know rear seat has less room but when 95% of the rear seat passengers are kids that's not a problem, I'll take the little extra trunk space and yes it is helpful when I have my golf clubs in trunk and need room for 2-3 baseball bags.

I would give the utilitarian nod to the ///M3.

The M3 is a standard 3-box sedan design, so I agree that it's the more utilitarian of the two (in the practical, but not groundbreaking or exciting sense). A bigger trunk opening via the hatch of the GC (or S5 Sportback, in my case) is a godsend when trying to fit big boxes in the back. It really makes a big difference. And the sloped back gives it an extra style kick in my eyes.

Currently have a 2018 430i. I don't have much faith in the front grill designs so far on the cars, so keeping my expectations very low on this next redesign.
