Bad experience today

Hey guys/gals

I have a new M440ix. I was driving to my main house from my vacation home today. It’s about a 2 hour drive. About 1/2 way home I stop to get a little gas and use the restroom. Got back in it to crank it and it wouldn’t start. The car made a slight noise when I hit the start button, then to my horror I saw a tiny amount of smoke coming out the hood. It seemed to come from the left side of the engine bay from the drivers seat perspective. Open the hood and it smelled a little like burning wire. Tried again, same thing. A yellow message popped up on the dash but I missed what it said. Here I am, one hour away from my house, car full of stuff including a pet, in a very remote area. Anyway, I waited about 3-4 more minutes, and the car started, thankfully! I made it home safely but obviously will have to get this looked into. The oil, coolant and warning messages showed no issues and normal levels. I’m guessing this might be in the ignition wiring but just a wild guess. My dealer is 2 hours away unfortunately. Any ideas? Known issues? Thanks

Wow that's a first. Might be a issue with the 48V hybrid system since you mentioned on the left side. Look at the purple Velcro wiring in the engine bay see if anything is wrong. Regardless have it looked at by a dealer. You might be one of the first to experience since it's so new. Lemon the car if persists. Hate that hybrid system. Good luck!

Might be related to this voluntary recall

Uh oh... according to that recall summary, my M440i was built the last week of those affected G22 cars. I’ll have to check and see if my VIN is on the list.

Interesting info guys. Dealer picked up my car today. Going to pass along the recall info to them. I’ll report back the Dx and hopefully Rx. Thanks.
