Lastly...the car in the video must be insane and I'd love one.
Going from memory ~800K vehicles in 2022 and ~1.2M in 2023 were fully electric. As a percentage of overall vehicle sales 2022 6.5% and 2023 8.1%.

So the overall number of EV's sold is growing significantly as well as becoming a larger percentage of the total number of vehicles sold. So EV's are sales are growing faster than the overall vehicle market.

Another side note, EV sales were 12.5% of BMW's total vehicle sales which leads ALL traditional manufacturers in the US. All of the German brands were over 10% EV's in the US. This is excluding the pure EV brands obviously.

Only for one lap.

How would it do in a 30min session?

Seriously, most of these fast EVs are very luxurious, effortless, with every creature comfort while achieving 80mpge+. And you don't think a fast Nurburgring lap time is good enough for your daily driver? How about if we made your car put out upwards of 1100HP, it might not last a 30 minute session as well. A fast Nurburgring lap capable car will do fine in 99% of your street driving scenarios.

It's honestly crazy how many people are stumbling in here so desperately trying to knock EVs - like guys it's okay if you like your ICE's, it's not a knock against your ego, I have an iX M60 and an i4 M50 and my E60 550i is still parked outside. But EVs are just in another world, especially performance ones.

If they actually sell this i4M with 1k+ hp, I will do literally anything it takes to buy one.

I hope they wait until solid state batteries are introduced so they can offer the same range but reduce the amount of batteries required and in to the overall weight.

Numbers laws dictates this will happen regardless of prices. Sales of any car(s) cannot double or increase by 50% every year forever. I.e. Norways EV sales (what is it, 80%?) simply can't double, unless its population doubles.

What matters is total numbers, which will continue increasing as more models come out, tech gets better, charging infrastructure improves.

That’s when I will consider buying one. For now there is no way I want an overpriced tech toy that loses half its value in 3 years and only warranties 70% of battery life over 3 years (part of reason resale market sucks).
Once i3? Full electric platform comes out hopefully that will cut some weight out too.

Just don’t know where all these old batteries are going to go when all cars are electric. Can recycle them and they take a million years to decompose. Maybe musk plans to shoot them into space and charge everyone for that.

Let's correct some of your misconceptions. BMW warrants the battery for 8 years or 100,000 miles, not 3 years. EV batteries are highly recyclable and you should probably educate yourself about the process before saying things that are blatantly false or misleading.

Ignorance is bliss, isn't it, because the not knowing conveniently supports your false viewpoints.

Wow, great looking car! I can finally say I even like the beaver tooth grille. Then again, it appears they did tweak the design some. I'd buy one.

No. I’m saying that for people who track their cars, it will require having a separate ICE, track-capable, car.

A Nurburgring time for an EV is an utter irrelevance because nobody wants to do just one lap. When they build an EV which can run 30 min sessions, I’ll be all over it.

Most people who go to the track have more than one car. Shrug.

The US is not Norway. US EV sales were about 7.5% of total sales last year. I suspect they will be closer to 9% this year. The trajectory to 80% will be about 30 years at the new current rate. It will happen but looks like the rate of adoption is slowing down….ALOT. I do agree it may pick up again as more barriers are reduced.

Electric vehicles should only be tested in the harshest conditions and in cold. That way they can really advertise how these vehicles can do in cold weather.
