I realized that I hadn't posted my complete after my car was delivered. Below is my car spec, the timeline from ordering to delivery and some thoughts.
Car Spec: 2022 M340i xDrive Mineral Grey Metallic paint Tacora Red Vernasca Leather Oak Matte Finish Wood Trim Cooling & HP Tire Package w/792M wheels and PS4S tires Driving Assistance Package Drivers Assistance Pro Package Premium Package Adaptive M Suspension Harmon Kardon Surround Sound Icon Adaptive LED headlights w/Laserlight Park Distance Control Power Tailgate Remote Engine Start SensaTec Dashboard M Sport Brakes with Red Calipers Car Timeline: Order Placed: 1/24 Order received: 1/25 Scheduled for production: 1/26 Production begins: 2/1 (VIN assigned MX build). -35 Days- Exterior body assembly begins: 3/7 In the paint booth: 3/7 Entering assembly line: 3/7 Assembly in progress: 3/8 Quality check: 3/8 Final assembly: 3/9 Ready for transport: ? Status Never Updated Awaiting carrier assignment: ? Status Never Updated At the port (outgoing): ? Status Never Updated In transit: 3/30 (Glovis Captain from Vera Cruz) At the port (incoming): 4/10 Baltimore VDC. (MPE removed from build on 3 May) Called Genius on 4 May, stated status was released to carrier 4 May 22, estimated delivery 9 May 22. -24 Days- In transit: 5/6 At the dealership: 5/9 Vehicle delivered: 5/20 -Total time from Order Placed to Delivery 117 days, or 4 days shy of four months- Overall the process went along without too much drama and compared to the wait times I’ve read about on this forum I feel positively blessed, my main gripe with the experience is with the tracking and updates from BMW. The tracking function within My BMW/My Garage is kind of garbage, why have a tracking capability with established steps in the process to not update the tracking for each step? I know I’m not the only one to experience this issue as I’ve read several people on the forum having similar issues. I feel like if the tracking was better, there would be less “need” to pester the BMW Genius or your SA for status updates. That said, the BMW Genius line was extremely helpful during the process each time I called them. Shipping went pretty smooth, my car left Vera Cruz on the Glovis Captain on 30 March, its first stop was Fort Lauderdale FL, then it went to Brunswick GA, Jacksonville FL, Charleston SC, and finally to Baltimore MD on 10 April where my car got off. 11 Days total from Mexico to the Baltimore VDC. My car was processed through the new BMW vehicle distribution center (VDC) at the Tradepoint Atlantic Terminal in Sparrows Point, MD. This facility opened February 7th of this year and has the “ability” to process up to 100,000 vehicles annually, serving 126 BMW and Mini dealers in the Eastern and Central US. This new facility according to BMW nearly doubled the capability of the previous facility. I thought this was interesting so I figured I’d share it. At some point during my car’s build, my SA called and told me that BMW was removing the M Performance Exhaust from builds due a to lack of availability; however, after being told this, the MPE remained on the build in the tracker and in my SA’s view in the system. After arriving at the Baltimore VDC, the exhaust remained on the build when the work order was updated in the system on 11 April according to my SA. After going on four weeks at the port, I asked my SA if there was any way to check if the VDC was waiting on the exhaust to come in and if so if they could just remove it from the build, as I’d rather get my car now (or sooner) as opposed to waiting an undetermined amount of time for the MPE to get shipped. Received a text the next day that I could request removal of the MPE and they would change to build and release the car! I sent an e-,ail request to remove the MPE and my car was released to the carrier that day and on a truck the following day. My final wait began after my car was delivered… Had to be PDId and then wait for an appointment for tint and PPF which added an extra week to the timeline. I picked it up on Friday 20 May. Honestly, the wait time sucked but now that the car is here it didn’t seem so bad. If I had it to do over I’d have left the MPE off, that cost me a month itself. |

First post and first bimmer, finally have my VIN issued
Initially was a week 20 build but got delayed to week 24. Specs: 330e Sport Line Mineral White Exterior 18" wheels w/ all-season non run-flat tires Tacora Red Interior Aluminum Trim with Mesh effect Premium Package Driver Assistance Package Convenience Package Adaptive M Suspension Timeline: Order Received - 4/16 Scheduled For Production - 4/19 Production Begins - 6/2 Also got this email response from BMW Genius: "Your 2022 BMW 330e Sedan began production June 2, 2022 and is estimated to be produced June 13, 2022". What do they mean by produced estimate? Is 2 weeks really all it takes for the entire production process? |

Has anyone had experiences with their order being stuck at Quality Check? It's coming up on 5 weeks now and it's still showing as the same status. Still comes up as 155 in the production code and Genius and SA didn't have any other details.

So if that holds, then the estimate you got should be a solid one. Good luck, friend! |

Tanzanite and Dravit are only available from Munich at this time. Per my CA, Harmon Karmon and Driver Pro packages were not a guarantee on Mexico allocations when my order was placed as well - not sure how true that ended up being. |

Just heard from my CA yesterday that my car arrived in Galveston on the Arc Resolve and is currently at the Vehicle Processing Center. Unfortunately he also shared that I should expect a significant delay before it makes it to the dealership due to trucking challenges.

The timeline as of now.
My vehicle has been at the port for 5 days, I put a call into the Genius who stated that currently vehicles have been at port on average 1-2 weeks before departing on a ship. Hoping to receive the vehicle by the end of this month. Will update as more information becomes available. Last edited by mfour40; 06-04-2022 at 01:08 PM.. |
