I spec'd it to $57,700. Blue on white, heated seats, parking sensors. Ya'll have to remember that similarly spec'd S4 and C43 come in at the same price if not more.

All I give a damn about is how the car drives and syncing my music to Bluetooth!
Thank goodness someone said it...

65k for my build on a 3 series and yea it's frikkin outrageous. Literally 2 cars ago, my fully loaded 335i was like 52k.

BUT.

After having my M4 for 3 years and tracking it exactly once and hitting high digits on LA freeways just a handful of times, I can honestly say that going non-M isn't sounding so bad. Yes, I could pick up a used M3/4 but the tech in my car is feeling so ancient. Def could not do for much longer.

That's tough to swallow. My 2015 335 was $55,500 and had everything but lane departure package. As mentioned above, for ~$65k I'm looking at a 1-2 year old CPO M3 or a M550 or something similar

Which sounds more luxurious?
I suppose by this logic, we'd all be wearing leather pants, instead of jeans.

i don't think leather necessarily is more luxurious, people have always perceived it as luxury as it is harder / more expensive to produce / procure than cloth.

If I had a choice, I'd probably rather have my seats made out of that mesh airy fabric herman miller chairs are made of... but yeah. Leather has history behind it.

I think you're comparing the manual transmission time to the automatic transmission time. The F80/82 automatic does 0-60 in 3.8-3.9 according to BMW. So it's still a bit faster. Also, only the xDrive is 4.1. The RWD model is advertised as 4.4.

Remember that 0-60 is not the only important factor, even if you're only talking about straight line speed. You have to consider stuff like the 1/4mi, rolling start, passing speed, etc. That's not to mention handling and other equipment. The M340i is still fairly down on power and only has a single turbo so the top end power probably suffers a little bit. The gap is definitely closing though. BMW did a pretty good job competing with the likes of the C43 and S4.

You can option the new G20 with standard tires. Changing tires is also so trivial that I basically don't consider them at all when buying a car.

Agreed, took the last one from the dealer straight to a Discount Tire. But it's still an annoying thing to have to deal with.

Because BMW can't correctly release a trivial web application that displays different images and prices based on what boxes you've checked.

Maybe they're strained for engineering/product resources, or running on an antiquated platform that is difficult to develop on. Those are the only reasonable explanations.

That is, unless we're talking about BMW "leather" in the lower number series cars. I wish the $1500 leather I paid for in my 2-series actually smelled like leather instead of plastic. I'd be surprised if the G20's leather is any different. Other brands actually have leather that smells real and makes getting into the car a pleasure.

The Canadian configurator does exactly as you say. Evidently BMW believes Americans are too stupid to process the details.

Its an M340. Standard on the M240

WTH no red leather. I had it in my F30 and again in my F80. Hope they introduce this next year.

Also, yeah the options add up but at some point you'll get 8k off plus high residuals. Look at what happened with the M3 CS. They went overboard with the pricing and no one bought it. Now you can lease that 100k car for as much as the new 330 G20 some people are paying.
