Finally Here!

Picked up my 2020 M340i (Mineral Gray with Oyster Vernasca interior) this past Friday afternoon and holy hell it's a beast (in the best of ways) ~65 days from order placement to receipt. Seems like the Oyster interiors took longer to get production placement - order was set back in March, didn't go into production until the middle of April. Arrived Stateside 3rd week of May.

I hope to join the M340i crowd either at the end of this week or early next week as my car hit Baltimore last Friday (4/1/19 order date). But today when I took a peek on the MyBMW site, it said, "Hey, your car is no longer in Baltimore but is back in Germany." Fake news, I hope.

What's interesting is that while it came to Baltimore on a boat, it actually teleported back to Germany. So is it possible that the new G series has a hidden teleportation mode?

had the pleasure of semi racing a hemi and
CTS-V ( in Cancun of course).

The CTS-V tried to overtake me, we were rolling at 80... needless to say he wasn't successful.. nice exhaust note tho!

This car continues to impress me, can't wait to tune it!!

Not sure of the year, it definitely wasn't brand new..
It was the coupe... he gave up after the first attempt to overtake me.

Ahhhh ok. The 2019 has 640hp and does 0-100 in 3.9 seconds.

640 hp and only does 0-60 .2 seconds faster than the m340i lol

Good observation, but remember that the CTS-V is a bigger, heavier car, and rwd limits how much of its power is useful when accelerating from a stop.

I'd also say that the relationship between power and performance isn't linear as you add power to a car of given weight and specs (assuming same drive train, similar transmission etc). In other words, when you reach a certain level of performance, merely adding more power results in proportionately smaller gains.

Agreed. The CTS-V's acceleration is traction limited and the M340i's is not. Of course, once you get out of first or second gear and the CTS-V is no longer traction limited, it should pull away fairly easily.

Related to this (being traction limited) I recently saw a video explaining that BMW limited the torque of the M3/M4 below a certain rpm limit, specifically to make it more driveable.

Ummmm, that's 0-100, not to 60. It is 3.4 seconds to 60.

That doesn't make sense. That means it passes from 60 to 100mph in 0.5 seconds, which is impossible for a road car...probably for anything but a full-on dragster.

I (and probably others) had assumed you meant 100kph, which is 62mph.
