Wow! That's a great looking car! Wish we could get them in the US. Maybe even the diesel!

The thoughts of an unenlightened mind. Wagons rule FTW.

Exactly.

I also miss a lot the ‘main line’ with handles ‘integrated’

Hofmeister Kink is this: flat bottom, diagonal up which ‘joins’ the decreasing line of the roof. 3 parts. No more (8, 3 & 1 Series), no less (G21 and SUVs).

New 3 Series, New 8 Series, New 1 Series, neither of them have a Hofmeister Kink. (Only 5 & 7 Series still have one). SUVs have something different (not a flat bottom part) that is more alike the G21 thing, except the X7 which has a proper Hofmeister Kink.

It's a jacked up wagon regardless.

when you see it on the 1962 BMW 1500 or the 1962 BMW 3200 CS, you see something similar to what we know on the E38 or the G30

I like the new 3 Series Touring... beautiful car

Well, the G20 is the size of an e39. There was finally an update to the 540 wagon that we almost bought when my daughter was born. We are now done with the minivan we used for her and her brother, and we could use a wagon...

Who prefers this section of bodywork, to be horizontal like the E46 and E91? The X3 rises in the same place too and doesn't look quite right to me.

I feel it's in close keeping with the original Hofmeister, regardless it is far better than the abomination that is G20 and G15/16...

It was a fun vehicle, and I was able to truly enjoy it in Germany. But moving back to a state with crappy roads. I didn't want to watch it get destroyed on these roads.

Really? When are you moving to Europe? Get psyched for a Spartanburg X3 delivery. The US SUV lobby has won the marketing battle here.
