M3/M4 and 3 series coupes has also always been leaning more towards the masculine side.
Talking about AM they haven’t really toned down their bold, masculine not so sleek grill and front end as shown here with the 2019 DBS. But what do they know of good design anyway

I actually see quite a lot of similarities between the design language of this DBS and the concept 4. The organic cleaner fewer lines approach, upright top to bottom grill, smiley mouth, hood creases extending to the grill, sculpted rear flanks etc.

Everyone is at it. All about brand placement and identity.

Below is the E Tron Sportback. A very nice design IMO. Notice the lights are now even captures within the overall front 'presence' or grill.

Not a chance.

But the Gen-Two M2 might take some of the design cues.

For those that doubt the new application of kidney grille.
Here is the first shots of the next generation BMW 2er Active Tourer.

Yes rumours of its demise have been exaggerated.

BMW has to change with time or be left behind. All of you purists are dying off or holding on to the past and they know it. No one has brand loyalty anymore and this generation have different tastes and money to spend.

I am sure it's real. It will have something in the middle for License plate... so it is won't look as gigantic. Lol

It might turn out not to bad imagining with plates.
They could mount it on tow hook like Alfa.

Makes you wonder what the electric 4er will have as a front.

The G2x series is going to make all the other BMWs with small grills look so dated. I can't wait for the production version to debut and come to market. I wonder if the Concept 4 grill, previews the next 7 series grill.

Nope, time doesn't change ugliness.
Exactly! This idea that people will eventually accept it and love it just because time passes is absurd.

Grill is bad. That's my opinion, and bad enough to look at other models or another brand.

As far as Chris Bangle, his design sold a record number of 7's and quite a few other manufacturers copied it.
BMW will only succeed if they listen to the larger market, who I read often challenge BMW for being too conservative. Criticised for not enough revolution in their designs.

Your typical enthusiast seems to want to stay in the past, don't want to change much at all, prefer snail paced evolution.

BMW is main stream, not some niche company, being competitive is essential. Just look at the competition, to see how design is heading at the present. We may not like it, but it is all around us.

You want to ditch being conservative thats OK but you dont have to go to radical. Ugly will always be ugly.

Yeah, but Audi buyers are a totally different market - if Audi buyers cared about looks they would've bought BMWs ... well I guess that tells us where BMW is going to find customers for The Beaver4

Hoo boy. I can hear then coming lol.
Right now I'm waiting for news on BMW purists burning tyres in protest infront of the BMW headquarters.
Or some may just come back here and cry about it lol.

Embrace change people
